guys tell me about the power stroke ?? how many miles can they go ?

oranges to apples ?? I want to shut him up !!! help please ?? thanks loco one

Of COURSE the PS is better - after all, 100,000 Ford buy-backs and 200,000 Ford mechanics working 24/7 to keep them on the road can't all be wrong! ;) :D :D

IF diehard Ford owners are dumb enough to stick with a Ford diesel, even after their *3rd* buy-back, do you REALLY think you will ever convince one his PS (POS!) SUCKS big time?

arguing w/ a powerstroke guy is like beating your head against a brick wall... just smile and nod and wait for the inevitable "Ford owns Cummins" to drivel out of his mouth.

As Gary knows and cant deny it, I have one of the sweetest looking old 6. 9 diesels around, in October of this year, my truck will be 20 years old and it currently is my daily driver on my 160 mile a day roundtrip commute to work as my Acura Legend commute car died about 6 weeks ago with 350k on the clock.

My old 6. 9 isn't fast with the C6 and 4. 10 gears, but a 20 year old truck getting 1k a week put on the clock is nothing to laugh at... ... .

THE FORD GUY Oo. Oo. Oo.

Jake, I'm a long-time Ford guy... the ONLY reason I own a Dodge is because it's got a Cummins in it...

but comparing a 6. 9 to a Cummins or 6. 0 is apples-to-elephants...

that 6. 9 keeps running because it doesn't make enough power to put any stress on anything! :-laf :-laf

ain't it enough

tell him this

ain't it enough to make you SIX

oh i ment sick

anyway h e ll get the message 6 in this case <8

oh one more this is a biggie

get ready

ask him what motor ford used in their mid duty trucks in the 90's

it ain't no 6. 9 or 7. 3

guess again a 5. 9

hep you gussed it

cummins :-laf

i was looking at the horizon transport site and a driver with a 95 had just hit 1075000 miles. thats on the original engine. how many big rigs run v8 diesels. how long has cummins been around. how many buybacks have they had. how bout turbo failer. the cummins has less moving parts in it too, less to go wrong. the connecting rods are like 3x bigger than the fords. what am i saying it aint even a ford engine. do they use the psd in a 35ft pusher. its cheaper to bomb. the dodge looks better anyhow. if hes the kinda guy that buys a new truck every 2 yrs then tell him that his truck doesnt have enough experience to stand next to the staight 6. why does ford need 8 cyl to do half the job of 6. time will show him his mistake. ford people can get anoying sometimes.

"Jake, I'm a long-time Ford guy... the ONLY reason I own a Dodge is because it's got a Cummins in it... "

I started out that way, after a long and happy association with Fords and GM stuff - but after *11* absolutely happy and trouble-free years with the '91 TRUCK and the Cummins, took my chances and bought the '02 - nearly the same story as the '91, pair of totally insignificant warranty covered issues - replaced passenger side mirror that wouldn't hold adjustment, and a leaking vacuum pump seal - that's it in 3 years and 35,000 miles... Oo.

Do *I* "hate" Fords - or GM's for that matter? ABSOLUTELY *NOT!*

WAY to many happy memories behind the wheel - and occasionally under the hood - to not appreciate what they have all done for me in the past. Ford has had a string of misfortunes with their later PS engines - but then, DC has a few failed automatic transmission ghosts in IT'S closet too! ;) :D

Fact is, I'm an auto nut, and I like them ALL - but I can only drive one at a time! Most of the time nowdays, that is my wife's Ford Escape... :D :D

Meanwhile, I'll razz what I'm NOT currently driving! :D :D

OH - and JAKE is DEFINITELY one of the GOOD guys - in spite of HIS Ford! :D

now thats about the d*am truth!!!!!!

Don't bother trying to tell him anything just point him to the Ford sites and tell him when he is tired of his grocery getter to come talk to you about a real truck. ;)

:D A PowerJoke hooked to a Dorkshift!!! :D

:-laf BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA :-laf

PSD is a light duty Diesel CTD is a medium Duty Diesel

Ford still uses the CTD in there bigger trucks

Cummins is a global power leader with more than $6 billion in annual sales

When every ones power is out you can bet there a CUMMINS MOTOR running the hospitals ... Happened here about a mth ago many peoples life depended on that motor and it ran flawless after years of down time.

The diesel engine was designed and patented in 1892 by Rudolf Diesel. In the early 1920s, Mr. Clessie Cummins, one of Cummins Engine Company's founders, refined the Diesel design and developed engines to be used on-highway in the USA

150,000 miles before any motor maint ----other than Oil filter , fuel filter , air filter

"babying" the engine can delay full engine break-in for up-to 20,000 miles. ... RUN IT LIKE YOUR GONNA DRIVE IT RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX

Cummins' "firsts:" diesel-powered ferry boat, fire truck, diesel powered boat (U. S. ), diesel powered bus (U. S. ).

Business Ethics magazines list of "top corporate citizens" every year the list has been compiled. Cummins was No. 2 (out of 1,000 largest U. S. companies) in 2003.

AND ON AND ON .....

Face it if the cummins motor was in a FORD truck it'd be the highest selling pick up of all time ..... Most ford guys will agree as well Dodge guys

You like your truck they like theres no one will win unless you get out the log chain and make a fool out of them They can cry HP/TQ all day but when it comes right down to putting the power to the ground you'll whip on em'

Dont be scared

After all the reason I own a cummins is because I had a 383 stroker yes a real one in a lifted '81 CHEVY 1 ton Dually 4x4 I was very cocky and chalanged an entire town to a pull off on black top over the CB ..... Guess what ... . a BIG BLACK 4x4 CTD Dually with stacks and lights all over it pulls up... ... ... ... . My heart sunk when I heard the rattle . But YOUNG AND DUMB as I was I got my chain out ... ... ... ... . the rest... ... lets just say it got real ugly as he was toying with me pulling me all the way aroung the parking lot about $1000 to get my truck back on the road and it was never the same... . its not a good sign when your rear wheels come out of the rear pumpkin with axel attached !!!!!!! add smoked clutch and a compleatly destoryed trany I remember crying that night (16yrs old) .

I learnd a few lessons that night

Theres always something better

Dont trash talk

Its OK to back Down its wise not cowardly sometimes

Quit playing with Gassers DIESEL ALL THE WAY

NEVER MESS WITH A CUMMINS

HE never even tried ..... REALLY !!!!

I have to chime in here, i haven't been behind the wheel of the new powerstroke, don't want to, no need i have my 2000 ctd. . Have never driven anything with the 6. 9 in it, but i did drive a armored van that had the 7. 3 international and i must admit that was a very stout engine for what we used it for just plain hauling weight, it carried 10,000lbs when empty but the engine had around 400,000. yes those are actual road miles the thing rolled over while i was driving it myself, but it kept chugging along and it didn't matter how cold she would start when the powerstrokes would not.

As for ammo, i have to agree with the less moving parts, as we all know and its a fact that Inline engines last longer and have more torgue even in a gas engine, for ex: fords 300 six cylinder that was out in the eighties i believe, i may be wrong and those also has them in the early 90's. Better fuel mileage, engine for sure is better balanced(IMO).

Cummins: tried, tested, proven, true... . Simply where diesel engines started and that basically says it all, I mean how could they be wrong with something that has been around since for 80+ years... .

I bought my '93 new in January of '93 and it has been a daily driver ever since. It now has over 186,000 miles on it, puts out 378 RWHP and at least 945 lbft of torque. It has been to the dealer twice, once for a driveline alignment TSB and once for a cruise control problem - both under warranty. although slightly modified :D :D :D it puts out better numbers than any of the new trucks right off the production line.

Yep, they strut around and say, "I'd rather push a Ford than drive a Dodge"... with the 6. 0, they'll probably have the opportunity! :D

I am not a PSD fan, but wanted to point something out to Dieselminded. The PSD is used in International medium duty trucks, they call it the T444E and it is quite common. While I'm sure you can probably get a Cummins in a medium Ford, you can probably also get just about any other engine too. Medium duty trucks are more built to order than light trucks. I am not talking about F450s and 550s either as they are just glorified light trucks in my opinion.

Not TO Battle But

A Few Exerpts... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

WEB... .....

the cummins is rated a medium duty engine whereas the psd is a light duty but the psd is a fine engine and is quite capable of handling anything

Cummins was offered in the Ford F series medium duty trucks.

The Cummins 5. 9L is also offered in The Freightliner FL70 medium duty trucks.

And it is the same 5. 9L Cummins that is in the Dodge 2500, 3500.

Cummins powered 4x4 Dodge. the only true medium duty motor

offered in a light duty truck. I do not recall any Ford Powerstroke

motors ever being put into medium duty vehicles, but the Cummins sure

has.

The Cummins engine is a medium duty truck engine that was simply plopped under the hood of a pickup truck after a bit of detuning

Cummins is, best I can tell, the longest-lived and most reliable light-duty (actually, it's technically a medium-duty) engine built in America

Medium Duty Engine Offers Proven Performance & Reliability

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CUM - News) announced today that it has submitted its 5. 9 liter ISB engine for certification to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) 2. 5-gram NOx+NMHC standard.

Just remind him the the Power Choke is rated as a light duty diesel and the Dodge Cummins is a medium duty. In other words, he'll be rebuilding his when ours is at half life, or less

the Cummins is classified as a medium duty diesel whereas the Duramax and Powerstroke are light duty diesels. The difference is the average rebuild cycle - 300K miles as opposed to 175K mile. The Cummins is also rated to gross vehicle weights up to 65K pounds. The 5. 9 Cummins is severely de-rated for the Ram application.

Some PSD's may be used in MED Duty applications But its still a light duty motor

During the quarter, Navistar announced it had been

selected to negotiate an extended term agreement to

supply diesel engines for select Ford Motor Company

[NYSE:F - news] under 8,500 lb. GVW light-duty
