Want to try an additive for fuel economy. Found the Power Service at the parts house, it claims it has no alcohol, increases cetane and therefore reduces downshifts. Will this help since I have the 6 speed? Sounds like it should produce more torque at a lower RPM. Also read in some other forums about mixing it w/ Marvel Mystery Oil. How much should I use per tank? Thanks for your input.

I've used it for almost 5 years (3 trucks). I get it at Wallyworld for about $12 / gallon. Seems to work OK, but have not tested with and w/o for comparison. I'm getting about 20 MPG around town, light city driving. Can't complain. Good low end power. I can accel. from around 1100 RPM is 6th if I'm light on the go pedal.

I am a believer. I have ran a Power Service Kleen and Marvel Mystery Oil mix for at least 25,000 miles now. It made the truck run smoother and quieter for sure. I cant prove that it has anything to do with my mileage improvements. Mine has gone up slowly since about 15,000 miles. But the potential additional lubrication and cleaning of the injection pump and injectors is enought for me. Buy both inexpensive at Wal-Mart.

I use 3 parts PS Kleen to 1 part MMO for mix. I add 16oz of mix to every fillup, 26-29 gallons.

I use the same ratio as JVolpe and the first time I put it in, my mileage went up two mile per gallon and the additive was the only difference. I'm a believer.

Another believer!

I also use the same mix and get 1. 5 to 2 mpg increase across the board (city/highway) hand calculated. I went from 15 to 17mpg on the last tank. A rough calculation in the noggin while driving has it costing me about 50 cents per gallon for the extra mileage with the additive. Oo. And that was with me messing up and using the anti-gelling type that has less centane. :-laf

I've been using PS Diesel Kleen.

50+ hp gain and 100ft. lbs. + torque. Just like all the other miracle solutions, e. g. acetone, TAG, magnets, and such like - BUT I personally get to add this everytime I fill up... . HUA! ;)

Actually, figured it can't hurt, especially in the winter. No antecdotal miracles noted. :)

How about Sea Foam? I have used in gassers and had real good luck. Actually takes the knock out of the Chevy 6. 0 when used through the vacuum line.

I myself use 16oz PS to 8 oz MMO each 28 to 30 gallon fillup, year round. I use white bottle PS in the winter and silver bottle in the warmer weather. Cheap insurance, and perhaps a milage boost.

i just put one 16 in at every oil change and not long ago pulled the injectors and they are real clean no carbon what so ever almost looked new 153000 the truck is in the sig noticed slight power increase and better milage

Ran Lucas for years, Avg. 18MPG with no complaints (other than price) Friend talked me into 1 tank of Power Service didn't notice any power difference but milage went to 20. 3MPG. could be a fluke, lets see if it holds up. .

If you buy a case of PS the say on the bottle/box that they will pay the tow if your truck gels, down to -40*F. I've never bought a whole case, but just the fact that they say that is good enough for me.

I've never noticed any mileage improvements/detriments using anything, PS/Lucas/Howe's/whatever. I think rt. foot and fuel quality is a bigger factor.

i used to buy it. im done till they get a better bottle. every time i would use half a bottle and toss it is the bed. next fill up the darn things half empty and my rig smells like the stuff. it gotta funny smell to it.

you know u could just dump a whole bottle in its not gonna hurt it just up the cetane a little more

I get the big bottle of power service, and then use my aired out old water bottles to split it up and just dump one of those in at every (or every other if I'm running low on $) fill up. It eliminates the sticky smelly big bottle and trying to split it up at the pump every time.

Your are right about the smell - abominable. Say that five times fast. :D

I keep the Wally World large jug in a plastic icecream tub inside a plastic milk jug crate inside the underneath tool box. Measure it into a coke bottle and dump in at fill up.

The premeasured idea into water (coke or whatever) bottles is a winner. :)

I'm a firm believer in Diesel Kleen, I tried everything under the sun until I discovered this stuff.

If you look on the bottle it says that fuel savings more than pay for the bottle the first tank. This is absolutely true (according to my hand calculator) and the best part of that is with the smaller bottles I get between 2 and 3 tanks out of one bottle.

Plus all the other benefits.

Mileage went from 20 avg. to 23 avg. and has been there for the last 20K or so. Good stuff.
