Subaru Motor

OK TDR brethren I need help bombing a '75 NTC 350 big cam cummins

I was looking at some nice Shelby Cobras at the SEMA show in Vegas. Nice cars for sure. I talked with our friends at local Ford dealership. They do get them in frequently but they put them up on a sealed bid and sell them to the highest bidder. They usually sell for 65,000 to 75,000 bucks. I ended up getting my wife a white convertable Mustang GT. Then put on a X pipe, AFE intake, Diablo Predator, Hood scoope, Chrome wheels and tires. I think that should be enough hp for her. Fun car to drive for sure.

I think the engine is overrated, a stock C6 with the Z-51 package can beat it in every performance catagory, and it only has 400hp.

You guys on this site are completely off your rocker... . Half live in some make believe world where all you can think about is your stupid truck and the other half are brain washed into believing anything other then the brand you presently have is bad.

Trust me, there is nothing wrong with the FORD mustang

We will have to see how the MOPAR turns out, right now it's just a thought! and 90% of all you talking about it, won't be able to afford it when and if it does come out, just more Blah ,Blah, Blah this site is full of it. Actually seems to be increasing in it as the time slowly drags on, wonder why??

What is wrong with adding a blower??? Right like I thought, nothing as long as it's on YOUR car, right? Just like I thought, more Blah If it was your car and you had the blower, we would have to un-plug our computers for a brake between the bragging. God help me if the people at Chrysler had the balls to install a blower on there fantasy car, then it would be national news.

Also, Ford got one up on all the Dodge boys with there twin turbo set-up, again it's just **** if it isn't on your truck... . right again more Blah, Blah, Blah form the Dodge boys. I like (only like my Dodge, no I do not LOVE it... . it's only a truck) Dodge trucks and if they are Cummins powered well thats even better, but when I bought (yes I own my truck, and yes it's paid for... . something of a rare sight these days of renters delight) my truck I did not remove my brain and pledge to only achknowledge Dodge products. Chevrolet and Ford both build quality products, and if things keep going the way they are going, we will all be eating rice and looking through squinted eyes.

What happened to your objectivity? Do you know what that is??

Chill out dude... you are the one off your rocker if anyone.

Blowers and twins. heh. Funny cuz it's true.

I don't see any more mopar cheer leading then I do ford, chevy or bugatti do you?

It's called objective criticism. Debating if you will. I made the point about the ford motors needing help to keep up. Prove me wrong in a professional objective manor.

Help to keep up with what? The blower on the GT500 is icing IMO. Without the blower it does fine when compared to other autos in its class, remember it has a back seat.

I wasn't referring to classes in this case, motor to motor.

For example.

400hp v8 chubby LS2 vs 395hp blown v8 ford (2004 corbra for example).

Yeah, there is 1 liter of displacement there difference made up with the blower. But I don't think the ford would make an extra 100hp with out the blower if it was a 350CI motor. Chevy's the only one able to do that (and then some) with a N/A motor

Oh I think Ford is more than able proved by their past. Why they post the numbers they make today could have more to do with insurance than advertising.

y-knot, If you were at the DTR this is what your post would look like...

race them up vail pass ..... I'll take the blower! 400hp chevy turns into 260 hp at 10,000 ft.

I think supercharging /tubocharging is the way to go! look at the new hot rods like the wrx sti 2. 5 liters and 300 hp!

I agree with Y-knot. . Those 500HP motors are durable. Add electronics, and modified intake-exhaust,,,, well over 600RWHP. That motor rocks. BTW, I know of one running 10's out at Sacramento raceway with no more then $2,000 dollars into tune, intake, exhaust and street legal slicks. Not bad,,, not bad at all.

The Chevy 400-500HP Vettes are great. At least American cars are making juice,,,

quick comment. I've owned quite a few high performance vehicles. I owned a 2004 C5 Zo6. I was not very impressed with it's overall handling. Anything over 120 was a white knuckle experience. The thing felt like it was going to come off the track. Not very confidence inspiring. For sheer acceleration it was "ok". It had a LOT of build quality issues and a lot of computer related glitches. It shifted like a truck too but it was my first GM product and seemed to have the best performance/cost ratio (on paper) available at the time. I've owned a half dozen or more Fords too but not in the past 10 years. I would always buy Fords but brand loyalty only lasts so long with consistent problems. The same holds true with any brand and any personal experience I expect.

Hard to believe as it is one of the highest rated handleing cars back on '04. The only car Ford has to compete with the Vette is a GT, not the GT500, too bad it cost 2. 5 times what a Z06 costs.

The Corvette has been one of the top if not the top performance bargin since '84.

True, at elevation N/A cars stink. Turbocharging is the way to go. Our 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix 3. 8 supercharged 260 hp is a dog. My old 87 Dodge 2. 2 200 hp turbo Shelby CSX will rip it's butt.

Not impressed by Subarus either. For having 100 more horse than my car the trap speeds are the same.

I agree. Not to mention the GT 500 is a TANK! What does it wiegh, 3800 lbs?

gt 500 and the corvette are in different class. compare the vett to a viper.

the mustang has back seats and some storage in the trunk, you can actually use it as a commuter car. the back seats cut your insurance premium by a third.

the vett is great for the track! I would buy the stang for a daily driver.

Yep, hard to believe, but that was MY experience. I HATED the traction control system. It made the car seem like it sometimes had a mind of its own that would sometimes try to kill me:p I must have had bad luck with the one I had. :{

wow my little subie wrx was a blast at 227hp it corners like it is on rails, a little portly at 3000+ pounds but super fun. (mostly when it snowed :-laf ) The seats for long time in the saddle is why I sold it and bought 03 ram and hot rodded it.

those old shelbys are fast because they dont weigh anything. they did not have many creature comforts. Put your shelby on the road track vs the subie and you will get smoked, just old technology. put the subie on a rally corse vs the formentioned vett or gt and well... they would get smoked if they could even finnish. that is what the subie is a rally car. Different cars for a different purpose.

-robert

No creature comforts and lighter, I agree (2750 lbs). Rally course; I agree. Getting smoked at autocrossing; it does not! :D
