'07 Smarty Impressions?

Smarty is on the way!

Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a smarty , Do you like your's and have you had any problem's with your smarty setting code's or would you suggest another type of box. Thank's Don

i think you are gonna get a big % of people that are gonna say.....

JUST DO IT AND YOU WONT HAVE ANY REGRETS..... I FELL IN LOVE WITH MINE... :-laf Oo.

You are definately gonna get swamped on that question... . maybe the biggest thread ever! The smarty is by far the baddest tuner on the market hands down & I've tried alot of different tuners/boxes. The smarty tricks your computer to get extra power right off idle... . which is why we all love this thing. It isn't made to give you giant horsepower/torque, but make your truck more responsive & aggressive. If you are looking for big power to drag race... . smarty is not gonna give you the top dyno numbers, but if you want a truck that is way more fun to drive..... Smarty is the best!

i agree, i have had it now for only a few days now, and my truck is way more fun to drive. I love the response and smoke. My only regret is the risk involved. If you are irresponsible with it you can roast your transmission or other things. My truck is stock except for intake and intake horn. I have gauges on the way to monitor things. I so far have only kept smarty on level 3 to not wreck my transmission. If you want more safety features go with edge or banks, but beware of having warrantee problems. Smarty claims to be undetectable when returned to stock program.

If you want more safety features go with banks:eek: [ QUOTE]

I would never lead a guy toward Banks... . Edge Juice is way better if you want safety features & good customer service. I had the Banks Big Hoss & hated it..... barely noticeable power increase. I spanked many Banks equipped trucks with just my edge comp when my truck was stock..... not even close. Sorry to sound like a Banks trasher, but I don't want to see you spend your hard earned money & come out with a waste of $600 like I did.

I had one for a while (borrowed from a friend) and I really like it. It is an amazing tuner. But, there are a few things I dont like about it. The cruise control on non-HO trucks tries to over compensate and it makes it almost impossible to use with the smarty. There is a "fix" for that, although I am not sure of the details. On my HO, for whatever reason, the cruise works fine with the smarty loaded. The only other thing I didnt like is the severe timing rattle when I have the comp turned on and applying moderate to heavy throttle at lower rpms.

And, yes I had the correct smarty programs loaded (the ones that dont add timing).

All things considered, I will be buying one real soon.

I also don't like the way my truck runs with extra timing. The smarty is the bad boy on the block when it comes to the down-loadable power upgrades. I never had a problem with my warranty... . when I had one.

I love my smarty, I just hope that the 2nd gen smarty might be able to get some of the 3rd gen features, like the cruise control idle control for those with the ecm controlled cruise. I wonder if Marco could make a competition program that fuels even harder..... like the twins programs for tst and the likes. Those are the only things that I would want that it doesn't have yet.

Last time that I spoke to Bob Wagner... . he said that Marco would be working on the 2nd gen smarty soon. He is just trying to work some kinks out of the 3rd gen tuner first. Hopefully Marco will make a competition program... . it would be sweet!

Thank's everybody, this is what I'm looking for, I hope the trans wont be a problem had Dave Goerend do a full rebuild, triple disc tc and vb. The timing rattle is it there on all nine settings? I also tow a fifth wheel @ 12000lbs what setting do you guy's use towing like this. Don

I would be the the first one in line downloading a competition program... . unless you beat me to it Cummins724:-laf

I would use sw#3 for what you are running. I pull with smarty sw#2, drag comp on 3x3. It is awesome..... best tuner for trailer pulling.

It was for me, but I am running an HO with a drag box. But, with the box off, all was fine. I seriously doubt you will have an issue with your SO and EZ.

I would NOT run sw#3. The EZ adds timing, and so does sw#3. Dont run a box that adds timing with a sw that adds timing. Use the even number sw's and play around with it to see what works best.

I wasn't aware that he had a ez... . in that case sw2 works great.

The best thing about the smarty is when you put the truck back to stock, it doesnt leave any trace on the truck computer.

Thats what I like about it.

As soon as the money tree I planted after I got my truck starts to bloom that is what Im getting.

I'm thinking of pulling the ez off and selling it, are you guy's saying to leave the ez on and just add the smarty programs Don

You could if you wanted... the smarty has more aggressive timing than the ez. That where keeping it comes in to play.

There is a new thread for things that you want to add or suggest for the 2nd gen smarty. Put em all there so we have a good list.

I love my Smarty but I have had no luck trying to get my cruise to function correctly with it loaded on anything but stock. Tried the the "fix" but it won't help on my non-HO truck. Still, the truck is alot more fun to drive with a Smarty.
