That's one neat looking plane. Israel already has one of the best airforces in the world; this will keep them there.

I would guess if you sat a young child in the front seat of your truck, and it's probably a similar feeling.

What's scary is, you could put a young child in that cockpit and they'd say, "Cool, I know how to do this. It's just like XBox!":-laf

The 'I' model has 'legs'. Conformal fuel tanks, just for the Israeli's, make that round-trip to Tehran and Damascus more doable. Not to mention more add-on home grown electronics that make this the most formidable F-16 General Dynamics makes. ( just for Israel ).

Not to go off topic, but still F-16 related. A buddy of mine just went for a RIDE in an F-16 last month. Needless to say it was the ride of a lifetime!

wow that's definately not the place for a guy like me to be sitting. I have the memory of a goldfish and I'm riddled with ADD and that looks like WAY too many buttons, switches, and gauges to look at. First time I saw somthing shiny I'd forget what I was doing. :-laf

Just last week I was talking to a F-35 joint strike fighter simulator engineer and was asking lots of questions. One of them was had they let teenagers and younger kids into the cockpit of the simulator. He said that they had brought in several and gave them 30 minutes each. At the end of their time, everyone of them had figured out the cockpit and even suggested changes because where they had the stuff placed was stupid or hard. The engineers took their suggestions and forwarded them because he said, "this is who we are building the airplane for, not us. " I thought that was pretty cool.

Still the coolest fighter ever.

You are forgetting the F-14. The biggest and baddest fighter ever. Its radar had a range form O to 80k ft. and a radius of 100 mi. It could track 25 targets and engage 6 simultaneously... . then bring it back to "the boat" for a "nite trap". Now that is a real fighter. whadaya think :))

Who the hell did he know???? My son flew Tomcats for 6yrs and the closest I ever got is I had a chance to sit in one. I would sacriface a few body parts just to get a ride in one. ANY ONE... . LOL

F22 all the way: Full Stealth, Supercruise (Mach 1. 5+ w/o afterburners), Integrated Avionics, ASEA Radar, 2 35k+ lbs thrust Engines, Data Links, Internal weapons carriage, thrust vectoring engine nozzles..... it's the first and only 5th gen fighter in existance / production..... it'll smoke all else w/o concern!...

14 a great plane --

better IMO than the 18 especially since it has 2 people... ... Unfortunate that they retired them this year... ...

I do think the F-15e is a slightly better piece of gear - however it isn't carrier capable - and never was suppose to be... ... . Even though it's replacement is being developed - it will stay in the inventory till the late 2020's... .....

IMO, Russian SU27/30 Series / Euro Typhoon / French Rafael (all 4th gen fighters) are second only to the F22 (5th gen fighter)... . the F14/F15/F16/F18 are all 70's design's (3rdgen) that have been modernized... . they're still excellent planes, but can't compete aerodynamically / powerwise with the latest generation... . although our latest versions do have an edge on avionics / radar vs. the other designs. .
