Just found a pic of these 12 valve, Valve Covers/Breathers tonight on another board with all the part #'s. Has anyone ever seen them before? I was just about to order a set of breathers to adapt to mine but these look pretty good!

Ryan...

That shot is one of the underhood shots of my truck. I have someone who found them for me as a way to vent the motor better as I didn't want to drill and install breather like others have done. I wanted something different and he found that for me. They have been on the truck since early Spring and have done a nice job. Before installing them I seen some issues with crankcase pressures due to higher boost levels from the larger turbo. The original crankcase vent would do its job and oil the underside of the truck(making cleanup a chore) and at times pressure would pass through various seal areas and act like they had failed. After changing out three front crank seals I felt something was a miss and headed for my cylinder head man for a refresher course on pressure items. The front seals were not failed and no marks were on the crank which indicated that a sleeve was needed.

He suggested to me to vent the motor better and when I did the problems went away. The pressure was also showing or should I say exposing the failed oil pan gasket the worst. The pan gasket had been on since the truck was built way back in 97 and it had hardened and cracked allowing for minor leaks anyway. By me having the headwork done and installing the larger charger it allowed the pressure to escape from the first weakest link, the oil pan gasket. Once the breather covers were installed it slowed the pan gasket leak down to normal and allowed me to nurse it until vacation time for EEP to fix it and install the chromed oil pan I had done.

You can not get three of the covers on a B motor in a Ram due to the cowl being to close to the motor. IF the truck was body lifted you could but otherwise two is all you can install. The covers allow the oil to drain back into the motor and the oil vapors to pass out of the motor. I have ran the vent tubs down below the truck outside the frame.

Good luck getting them as there seems to be a rush on them. I have some on order and they have been backordered for about 6 weeks now. The first two sets have come in,minus the tops and gaskets and the others are all still B/O. Heck I would be happy just to get the parts to finish the ones I have now in,LOL... ... . Andy

Andy- Thanks for the post! I think I can deffinatly put in all 3 covers seeing my cummins is under a Chevy and there is no cowl interferance. Does anyone know what 5. 9 they would have come off stock? just helps when I try to figure out who to call up here in Canada. Also, do you know the price you were paying for them? I spent some time pollishing my stockers so if they are worth alot I think I will just go and get a set of clamp on breathers and then just tig tubes to my stock covers but those sure look nice!

I have a set on my pulling truck, really helps with high boost, and high RPM's

Ditto,

I had a Crankcase pressure problem and bulged the timing cover and blew out the tappet cover gasket at 4200RPM

Pulled 4-5 times with these covers on and no problems at all:)

great investment!!! keeps the truck clean

Ryan. .

Rob has above posted the PDF files for the Case tractor they come off of for you. Find a Case tractor dealer nearest you and you can get them. I will not post a price on them as I do not want to upset Robin as I promised to behave for her. They are more expensive than the breather only one you can make fit, but, they are well worth the money.

As for polishing them, they did not polish well and for some reason even after endless hours of working them they just didn't look right. I would imagine it because of the way they are made or cast and possibly have some other metal in them for strength. They looked about two shades darker in color than my factory ones which I had on that were polished. My polished set is laying on the workbench, along with the polished air horn collecting dust. I should sell them but being the packrat that I am they will probably end up in the "I may need them someday" crates in my storage area,LOL... ... Andy

Here is a shot from my Spring Fling show. As you can see I had already had them painted and clearcoated and was awaiting the front and rear covers to be done. I am glad I went back and took the polished ones off,I like the painted look alot better. It also had the AFE Stage 1 system on which I later sold.

Do the standard Cummins gaskets fit or do we need to order the Case gaskets also?

Thanks.

Yes

The only problem that I found is that I our factory bolts have a shoulder on them and It seems that the shoulder is a little to long so they bottom out and it didnt make a good seal

A thick washer or two did the trick:)

SweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeT!!!! I was wondering why I was dripping oil from the front end just behind the balancer, now I know. Thanks! I told the wife and all she said was "So do you have to take ALL THAT STUFF OFF?????" :-{}

I said "NO, just get these" She then said "oh goodie more stuff"

#@$%! <- (wife), <--- Me!! More stuff! I'm almost done with the water meth injection. I keep telling her it's so I can pull "HER" new 39 foot 5th wheel toy hauler. Oo.

Just thought of something that might cause some problems and I would rather ask this before I order the new covers. I am thinking I can only run two of them because the lines will have to still run between the covers and I am running stainless lines bent for water injection which the top line already sticks up above the covers. Anyone else have the covers and lines bent for water? Also, if I were to run the nozels in the head it looks like they will clear the covers but just thought I would ask if anyone knew that too.

I was planning on ordering the covers tomorrow so any info would be great.

If anyone could come up with the cummins # for these they would be cheaper and quicker to get. I work on heavy equipment and genrally speaking CNH is slow and expensive.

The ones from case are already red?

Nope. .

I had them painted to match the truck and clear coated. Probably should have had them done in powdercoat but I wanted to make sure I liked the different look first as paint is easy to change and powdercoat is not.

I will disagree with that. .

Cummins is where I had my extra sets orderd from and they are still on back order. I heard from the shop today and I believe 3 of the sets are in but still have some on back order.

Ryan. .

I am not sure on those questions as my truck has a very bad allergic reaction to dirt. When it gets near dirt it does strange things like making me cover it so the dust doesn't cover it up,LOL. Seriously,They cleared my headstuds no problem(however, mine are the newer style which required no valve cover clearance work) and will fit over the injector lines I have(stainless . 093 from Haisley). I do not know much about water lines, unless your chatting about the one I use to keep it clean... ... Andy
