over 100 mpg is possible WHY AREN'T WE DOING IT

I read about this in the 60's, I witnessed a full size car get 120 mpg in 1974.

Today on the WEB there are all kinds of topics on fuel vaporiation.

We have the technology, but I think the oil companies have the patends.

What a waste, when are we going to speak up. Why don't our government DO SOMETHING!!

Read through this site. The number that want performance outnumber those who want economy by a substantial margin. Automakers stay in business selling vehicles, and convincing us to buy the newest and shiniest. If J. Q. Public just wanted high MPG vehicles, that's what they would be selling. Instead they want SUV's (and trucks) to haul groceries.

I remember what zzman is talking about a man claimed he could put something on any vehicle and get 110 t0 120 mph. it was refered to as a black box. a reporter basicly said he was full of it and challenged him. the guy told the reporter to buy a car, he bought a 1965 ford v8. i dont know the size. the reporter said he did not get any where 120 mph, he only got 89 mph. i believe this was about 1972 because i remember i thought the car was old for that kind of test. this was in the news several times and that dont make it true. the last time he was in the news he said he sold the rights to it but could not talk of any details as that was part of the bargain. i dont know how you would research it but i believe the paper to be the Seattle times. robert

One big reason, Big Oil does not want it. You have to understand in the current gov. corporate America calls the shots. Even if it were to be done an oil company would by it then squash it. Look at the electric car in California, the CARB board AND oil company killed it.

Our Jasper salesman says he knew of some guy doin that stuff on the old cars. Mr big oil company heard. Paid him a visit and told him they will give a couple million for his invention if he promises to quit doin it. I'm positive the oil companies do NOT want vehicles to do good on fuel.

Guys, Here is the scoop on the real thing, make a car that gets 100 mpg and win 10 million $$$$$$$

Now everyone I know, knows somebody’s Uncle’s cousin’s brother in law’s sister’s father who made a thingie that got 100 mpg,:-laf Experimental vehicles have gone over the 100 mpg mark, at least 7 or 8 if my memory serves correctly. But they were just that experimental.

Now here is something to get involved with. A car/vehicle that is super fuel efficient, would be commercially viable, and gets over 100 mpg, I think it’s going to be harder that one might think.

Right on, bro! The only way to get 100+ MPG in an Excursion-sized SUV with the BTUs in a gallon of petroleum fuel would be to split a few atoms. I don't remember the invention discussed here. But I remember a guy that said he could up your mileage with a simple device. It was two fine mesh screens that floated in a collar just before the intake manifold and vibrated against each other as fuel passed through them. It was supposed to atomize fuel even more than the carburator. So what did those evil oil companies do? They killed off the carburator quicker than they killed the electric street car, and now we are stuck with fuel injection. All because this guy invented two screens that rubbed together.

People, don't believe this nonsense about oil companies buying and shelving these inventions. I'm not saying it's never happened, but it's rarer than a chupacabra. Think it through. You're down in your basement, in your underwear listening to the crazy shows on short wave radio and happily inventing the thing that will free us from the corporate oil interests once and for all. Then one day Mr. Oil Executive knocks on your door and offers to buy your invention for {insert desired amount here}. Does anyone really believe a check (or a briefcase full of cash) changes hands and the invention disappears, never to see the light of day here? No, of course not. If the oil companies were willing to pay you {insert desired amount here} for your invention, don't you think some of the groups who hate oil (and prosperity) as a general rule would get George Soros to pay you {2*insert desired amount here} for the same invention? And then the evil oil companies make a counter-offer of {(2*insert desired amount here)+1}? And how long do patents last? I think it's about 18-20 years. That much time has passed since these great inventions were supposed to have been invented. Where are they? Has anyone ever done a patent search to see if they even exist? If there is no public patent for them, someone else can get a patent and stick it to the oil companies.

I guess some folks will never believe. I 'm not trying to debate whether there IS such a devise to get over 100 mpg. If you do the search on the web you will find what there is. I will find them and post the links next time. I'm a believer because I have seen it.

My consern is, the oil companies are running our lives, how far is our government going to let them go? The technology is there, it is a matter of patend ownership. I wish someone could or had the resources to produce and market the results of the so called experimental projects that I KNOW EXIST that work.

I wish the truckers would STRIKE again like they did when the prices rose up years ago. They made the price drop quick. So how much are we going to take?

I also have heard the legends of carburators getting 100+ MPG, but have never seen or heard from the source about them. The thing about the original inventor coming back is they most likely signed a gag order that has no end to it and if they ever spoke of the invention, only a few know what would ever come of them.



I would love to see a design that could accomplish this, but my gut feeling is that in order to it would take more than just a carb etc. It would take at least a whole engine design. Keep in mind that diesel fuel has more energy per gallon than gasoline and if they could get 100 out of gasoline even better would be capable with diesel fuel if the technolgy could keep pace.



Just did a search online for "high milage carburator", and the information discovered is very interesting.

I'm only 54 but I do remember a few things still.

I remember when gas reached the same price as a pack of Marlboro in the 60's at 35 cents. Today it is trying the same thing. I think maybe the same guy owns both smokes, what you think?

Truckers don't really care much about fuel prices - they get fuel surcharges. They simply pass costs on to consumer. Oil companies realize this, so that is the main reason diesel is more expensive than gas.

Trucker do care about it as a lot of the little co's with 6 or 7 trucks have gone out of bussiness.

I have watched our Government since the end of WWII and all they do is talk the talk and never do anything for the people that put them in office. They go to Washington DECEIT to get the multi million retirement package and nothing else matters to them. For 30 years the Tree Huggers have not allowed new refineries or Nuclear plants to be built. Proof of their superior intelligence is them not allowing under brush to be cleaned out of our forests. when there is a lightening strike we then have an uncontrollable forest fire and millions of acres of trees are destroyed. I sure hope they are proud of themselves. Firemen loose their lives fighting these fires but that is OK they are not dyeing in Iraq. The use of common sense by those in charge is a thing of the past. We need to take back what has been taken from us. Will it happen, I seriously doubt the voters (with no common sense) will wake up in time. We could stick together like we did in WWII but not today not now, everybody wants to be in charge. I just does not work that way.

I have heard such stories too. The one I heard was bout the guy who bought a ford fairlane. He cruised with his friends all weekend going like 500 miles and topped off the tank with only 2 or 3 gallons. Someone at the ford factory supposedly traced the vehicle down and pays whatever it takes to get it back. The secret is supposed to be a little hole drilled in the carb that lets air in to help atomize the fuel. Several friends have heard this story soooo... ... ... .

I wish someone who had the resources would try to continue the effort that earier people have done.

We all hear the stories, and that may be all they are is stories. I'm just saying the proof is there (I for one have seen it) but no one seems to do anything.
