standyne treatment help

Differential Oil Change Intervals.

I am sure there are other way of dewatering the oil but, just dont have the time to look in to them if any one was a way of doing that please feel free to post them

hope this helps

CJ I am thinking about giving the accusorb® beads a try. Might give this web page a read if you haven't seen it before Bio Diesel @ Survival Unlimited.com Basically you run the fuel through these water-absorbing beads which will dry it out. Once the beads become saturated you throw them in an oven to heat for awhile and dry them back out, essentially recharging them. They are kinda expensive though.

On another topic I CANNOT believe they are adding ethanol to our diesel fuel!!!! What will they think of next?? I don't know if they're doing it around here yet, haven't seen any indications on the pump they are doing it.

oil and things

Hello Vaughn

I have looked at those beads also just not sure about them would have to talk to some one the has used them.

the ethanol in diesel not sure either but if its cheaper then refining crude those money grubbing CEO's will do it.

I just bought 35 lb soy oil from costco for cooking I was close to needing a new one poured the last 1/2 gallon in to a hot pan it poped and spattered like it had water in it. CARGILL maker of the oil . WOULD NOT PUT WATER IN IT WOULD THEY??????

The last oil a bought was 19. 97

this oil was 27. 97

more money for less oil ,,,,,,,, sounds like they are getting up to speed with the Conoco/Exxon/Bp (CEO's Oil Pimps. :-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf)

oil

Hello moparpartsman

yes new oil will work just fine there is just a few things you will need to do different but the new stuff will be fine.

Do you have a good supply of new????

I have a person the needs to buy 12 railcars a year 26,500 gallons a month all the prices I have been getting are more then just buying diesel.

if its crude vegetable oil then there is a lot more to do to it but it will work just fine.

Hello Whistleman

I sent you some info .

CJ,

are you going with the cetrifuge in the future?. . I've been checking it out. the claims are interesting . Water removal and down to 1 micron filtration. . I've checked out a couple home grown cetrifuge systems (Youtube)with in line heaters and using a old powersteering pump/ electric motor for the 90lbs pressure.

This really looks like the way to go. . Is there a hometest kit available to check out oil cleanliness?

Check

CJ,

Info received. I have lots of work to do. I only NEED 30 gallons a week. Thinking about using a water heater(s) instead of barrels for heating/mixing.

centrifuge update

Hello to All

I have the new toy about 2/3 done.

I will be getting the drums and bungs welded in this week this next weekend the hose and electric will be done. It will have to be powercoated and then put back together.

The hardest part about building this is mounting the two centrifuges so its stable yet it needs to be adjusted so its level and this has to be done for it to work right.

At this time I will be using it to clean and dewater the oil as soon as I get oil then it will be put in to storage and used as needed

the heating units I have will be used to feed the centrifuge and the filtering units will be used to mix and filter the oil this will only take 10 to 20 min of use I plan on making fuel as needed.

I do have some pictures of what is done I will post them next sunday after I get more done on it.

As far as making sure its clean there is no way of telling you lose site of the microns at 100 this oil gets filtered to 5 micron and the centrifuge will be at 1 micron if not better.

LOOK FOR NEW POSTS ON SUNDAY NIGHT:)

inexpencive alterative to heating oil

Biodieselbarn.com sells a heat exchanger you can attach to the pump that heats the oil to 120 deg. in 30 min. for about $150. It works great and takes up little space.

water and oil

Hello Whistleman

The water heaters should work fine for mixing the only thing about it for heating would be the water in the oil once its steamed off if its in a closed water tank it will just go right back to water and mix in . make sure its a open system and that the steam can come off the top of the tank.

Hello SLong

Do you have one of those heaters if so what do they look like.

The info on the heater does not say much.

Water Heater

I understand the water evaporation. So you heat it to appx. 200F for 12 hours to dewater and then filter for an additional 12 hours, your current process, move it to the mixing tank and mix the receipe. How hot is the oil when mixing in the ingredients, especially the gasoline? Thanks for the help.

Whistleman

heating filtering mixing

Hello Whistleman

Yes heat it to 200+ and hold it there for 12 hrs or longer this depends on the oil and how much water is in the oil .

move it to the filtering/ mixing unit filter for 12 hrs then add the gas/additives the temp of the oil when adding the gasoline in is 100 degrees. colder temps on the oil work just fine hotter is not safe. yes I know that 100 degrees is not safe to.

I stick the nozzel in the oil and pump in the 4 or 6 gallons this works good for me.

hope this helps

centrifuge update and pictures

Hello to All

I did not get all the work done to the centrifuge I hoped to this week end.

I did get some pictures of what is done and then the weather turned on us.

the drums are ready for welding and powercoat the cart that holds the two units need just a few more things then its off to powercoat

this should be done this week and all put back together in a week or so.

here are the pictures.

Do these two pumps work independent of one another or are they working in sequence. I'm thinking independent, how much oil will they filter, and what level of filtration are you hoping to achieve.

Thanks,

Craig

centrifuge

Hello Mr Wilson

These are independent of each other and with heated oil I am hoping for 15 to 20 gallons per hr of of each one. The filtering should be around 1 mircron.

The Centrifuge will be feed with 55 gallon drums heated with 1500 watt tank heaters.

the oil goes in to a 15 gallon drum and pumped to a 275 gallon totes we will have 4 totes for clean dewatered oil heated with hot water from a lister engine running a 12k gen ? running vegetable oil this engine will power the shop run the vegetable oil process and heat the oil it will also heat the shop and power and heat the house.

this is the first part of the system we have the shop and house the cement will be poured this week and then we will be getting the lister engine and gen later this summer.

We will be off grid by the end of fall :-laf:-laf:-laf

The lister will either be a twin or we will be hooking up two single engines to power this way we can run only one when we dont need a lot of power but when we do need more we can run the other one. also we can run one and service the other with out having a power outage. this is what i am hopping for.

my house will be powered by a lister/gen engine also. :)

No more power/gas/fuel bills :-laf:-laf:-laf

I've got a study and and print-outs from Wilson university. They're doing a WVO study and the papers walk you (kinda) through the whole thing.

I've been using filtered WVO for about 9 months now and have found that if you make a batch of 20-30 gallons and use new filters, it goes better - cleans the fuel a lot better - and then I have to mix it no greater than 50%.

I had some issues back in December with a filter that disintegrated without me knowing about it before I filled the truck - cost me $400. 00 to get the tank (and 40 gallons of diesel / WVO) cleaned out.

I'm also currently toying with the lye / methanol settling tank as an add-on to my filters. Anybody have advice on this??

CJ,

It's great the info you are supplying! Off the grid, now that's an A+ ! ... ... .
What's you view on using old hydraulic oil (refined mineral oil) as a
WVO substitute?

hyd oil

Hello Lmoore1624

My thoughts are yes it will be fine the only thing is the filtering of the oil

this is true with ANY oil .

I will be trying all different types of oil veg, mineral, man made oil this Centrifuge will be used to filter any thing I can find. I want to try ATF first then used engine oil. hyd oil will be tryed we will try in the lister engine and then then in the Dodges Fords and Chevys.

I did get more done today on the centrifuge the tanks (drums) are ready to go all the weld in bungs are in and tonight finnish the electric hook ups.

I WILL POST MORE PICTURES TONIGHT OF THE UNITS.

thanks for reading

new pictures

hello to all

here are the lastest pictures of the centrifuge project.

there are just a few things missing.

the piping for filling the drums.

the piping for the sump pump over to the totes.

the electrical for the heaters and the power cords to the unit

the site glass for the drums

the lower hoses for the waste and clean oil

and the hose from the bottom of the drum's to the centrifuge.

enjoy the new pictures
