I don't know the numbers as a percentage of sales but the choices between 2wd and 4wd probably vary with the region and winter snowfall.

I just spoke with a Fleet Manager at my Dodge dealer, Melloy Dodge here in Albuquerque. He said that of all the trucks they sell, 90% to 95% are 4WD.

OK I sort of thought that might be the case I was starting to look for a 2WD and don't find many.

Thank you for the input.

Paul, my 05 is a 4WD and my 95 Dodge/Cummins was a 4WD. Two advantages to buying a 4WD is the resale value and if you ever get into loose sand with a 2WD with the weight of the Cummins, you'll wish you had a 4x4 because you'll bury the front end. When I sold my 95 in 05, I got back every penny I paid for the 4x4. Besides 4WD Dodge stands higher and looks better.

In So. Cal there are a lot of 2WD. Its so bad, there might be only two 4WD's on the lot in any model CTD, and they are ST's.

2wd

It appears if I look for a while I will be able to locate a 2WD truck. I have a F350 now that is 2WD since tow with it most of the time traction has not been a problem yet. I like the lower stance of a 2WD for my purposes.

Thank you all

Paul:)

I can share with you that my BIL wanted a 2WD 3500 dually and had to order it from Dave Smith... they don't keep them on the lot... and I can't remember ever seeing a 2WD at Dishman...

However my 08 5500 is a 2WD and the ones I've seen heading to the utility companies parked at Dishman were all 2WD (4500-5500)

To us the move to 4500-5500 makes it more a highway truck and at that weight you can't not carry chains and avoid them if the signs are out... . so even if it was a 4WD in OR, WA, ID at over the 10K GVW and commercial it MUST be chained in the winter, where we often put the 3500's in 4WD and sneak by.....

So I'm guessing it a regional thing... based on the local weather. .
