OK,

Am I correct when I summarize all the posts I have read in that the best deal on Bilstein shocks is from AutoZone? Perhaps no cheaper that anywhere else but as far as warranty goes they are the best?

I will be in the market in a few weeks hopefully and am doing what I can do now to be prepared.

Thanks guys!

I'm right behind ya on the bilsteins. My stockers at 160k miles "Just ain't what they used to be"

Will probably pay someone to install a DSS to see if it helps the steering also.

Some urethane bushings wouldn't hurt either.

Come-on Autozone!

I bought mine at AutoZone. Competitive price, in stock, and local guys I know if there are any problems.

Honestly, I did not notice a big difference in my ride when I replaced the stockers at 250K miles. We'll just have to see how long they last.

If you buy the blue & yellow ones be sure the warranty policy will allow for exchange replacement no questions asked. Mine were shot by 25K miles & I had to buy a new set, send mine in to be tested then Bilstein denied the warranty, despite the fact my truck would bounce up & down 3-4 times after going over a speed bump.

Consider the black/silver shocks or KYBs, the yellow shocks don't last that long.

cArNiVaL - Thanks for the advice. When i get some time Ill give him a PM jingle. . (dont mean to hijack the thread)

I do not think that is right. I talked with Genos last week, and they told me that the silver/black are for 4x4 with 0 to 2" lift.

I have the silver ones on my stock height 04. 5... They work fine. Did I notice a difference, I'm not sure LOL...

I remember reading somewhere that the blue/yellow had the lifetime warrenty and custom valving that is application specific. The silver/black had a shorter warrenty and generic one fits all valving.

I have over 30,000 on the blue/yellow and still love em.

Maybe they changed them then, there were many posts/discussions about this in the past and the conclusion was always the front end needed a slight lift (at least 1-2") otherwise the shock would bottom out before the suspension.

I think the thing that did my blue/yellow shocks in was the interstates & turnpikes in Pennsylvania & New York, and one almighty pothole in Kennesaw Georgia.

Hi PRout,

I installed the BD steering stabalizer on my truck. I can tell a difference, but I am not all that impressed. Just my $. 02 worth.

I put all new Napa shocks on a month ago, the rears are ok, but the fronts sucked. Put the silver Bilstein's from Geno's on the front this week and they are great. Shoulda done that first, just didn't want to wait for shipping. The valving seems to be about right even if they are "generic" or not application-specific.

BTW, when installing, I found that taking off the green plastic strap, putting the lower rubber and steel piece on the upper stem, then putting the green thing back on (compressing the shock and holding it like that), makes it easy to put 'em in.
