I just wanted to post a note on my new 4500 4x2 C&C. I have owned '97,00. 03,06 3500 Dually Rams. Each had there own issues. I have to say I am very impressed with the build of this truck. The truck feels real strong. I elected the Automatic because of the warranty plus the fact I am 51 yrs old and tiered of shifting. The brakes are massive, the frame is strong, stock Jake brake. I finally feel like I have bought a truck and not an over extended SUV. Dodge finally did it right!

I agree with you. I wanted one early this year but after test driving two of them decided I didn't think I could handle the stiff ride as a daily driver. I didn't have the opportunity to drive a loaded 4500 to see how the ride would soften under load.

Please keep the forum posted about your experiences with the new 4500 as you accumulate the miles.

yep, i have the 5500 CC without a bed it is a tow vehical, it is rough. no pleasure trips with this one. the pull behind trailers do not apply enough weight to the hitch to smooth out the ride.

They have put a Jake brake in the new Dodges have they?

No, "Jake Brakes" are not made for or offered on the 6. 7 engines.

The exhaust braking feature is standard equipment on all 6. 7 engines and is provided by a variable geometry turbo which has a sliding nozzle. When the nozzle slides one direction it provides varying degrees of boost up to full boost depending on the driver's right foot. When the driver lifts his right foot the nozzle slides the opposite direction and blocks the exhaust providing exhaust braking.

It works great unless the federally mandated emissions crap installed to please the tree huggers causes the sliding nozzle turbo to become blocked by accumulated soot.

Yes, but so far its only a problem on the regular P/U 350 HP version, glad I own the C&C version.

RVTRKN, if you would like to have some problems just bring your C&C to Alaska because we got enough exhaust issues here to go around.
I'll assume its from the cold, smoke from cold engine during startup until at normal temperature, which you can't see because of the DPF. That was a question BTW.
