Looking for any information on 1 ton single rear wheel 4x4 regular cab

Lower a truck?

Has anybody used the cab fresh filter kit from Genos. Did it work as good as advertised, how did it look on your truck. I live 3 miles down the read from a big feedyard, when the wind blows just right it gets pretty dusty, it gets in my vents and makes my truck smell like a feedyard. I thought this might help.

I have had one on my 2001. 5 for seven years. I replaced the filter recently for the first time. I highly reccomend the kit. It keeps a lot of junk out of the heater core area and the truck interior.

I have it on my 2008 3500 and yes they are great, however the design is very bad. I am on my fourth set in 3 months. The plastic snaps are way too thin and break off with the vibration and changes in temperature. Talk to the manufacturer on how to fix it, but honestly do plan on see anything ... .

Possibly you are overtightening the plastic holders. I have had no problem with breakage on mine in 7 years. Possibly the kit has been changed in that time also to fit newer models.

I also have had one for 7ish years now. It has been pretty good. It will certainly keep the chunks out and it will help with the dust but dont expect it to keep it all or even most of it out. As far as smells I dont think it does much for that. I put mine on mainly to keep pine needles and leaves out.

I have used one for about 3 years, and had the problem with a few of the plastic tabs breaking off. So I added several toggle bolts to hold them in place. Also, for me they only helped a little on odor control, I can still smell the dairy when I drive by.

That is the same idea I have had to fix mine :)

Well I might try it, I'll let ya'll know how well it worked for me, I am just tired of turning the vents on and clouds of dust pour out.

I also have a pair in my truck for 7 years With no problems ,
I bought them just to keep all the accumulation of all the big stuff out :D

I put mine on last summer when the Cali fires were dumping lots of smoke into Reno. They worked really well for the dust and smoke and even the pine needles while camping. They did not help much for the smoke smell but it did cut down a lot on the smoke coming into the cab. It got hard to breath on a few occasions and they helped with that and the headaches from all the smoke in the air.

I have had it on there since truck was new. I just replace the filter material once in awhile. Keeps dust, etc. out of cab.

I think the sun exposure has done a job on mine. Had them on for about 4 years. As stated, the clips are somewhat of a b*&^ch and mine on driver's side has warped a little and obstructs my windshield washer nozzle. Other than that, I have enjoyed a lower level of smell and dust/sand in the HVAC system.

Just received the cab fresh filter kit for a 4th Gen.. (the one behind the wind shield wipers) pondering the install. It's great Geno's sent SS hardware,,,,,,,,,FREE!

If anyone else is wondering- The design of the replacement cabin filter (the one behind the glove box) is a little different then the original filter. The short side border isn't there. I spoke to John @ Geno's, he checked the others on the shelf and this is normal. It installed just the same as the others. In fact I think it went in a little easier as the angle required to get past the dash is a little steep. I certainly don't foresee any issues. Thanks for taking the time John.

I'll keep you posted on the fresh air install.

Cheers,

I wanna add the cab filter filter that goes inside the dash but I'm afraid it will cut down on air flow. Here in Ca, we've had over 40 days of 100 degree temps this summer and occasionally rose to 110 +

I installed the in-cab filter in mine about a month ago. It does cut air flow a little, but it sure keeps the dust out.

So I ordered the in cab filter kit today from Genos. Hopefully we won't notice a huge drop in air flow from the vents. We live in the dirt so I'm looking forward to less dirt inside my truck; rolling up my windows before stopping on a silty road my help more :D

Waiting for the dust to pass by does help! :-laf I waited to order one until a good friend who lives on a ranch near Hart Flat installed his. He was happy so I pulled the pin on mine.

The Geno's kit works perfect sure there is some lost to air flow but , just raise blower speed a tad, installed couple years ago best investment, don't understand why factory never did this for truck.

I got the filter in the mail today and quickly went to cutting out the opening with MAP gas and utility knife. As I suspected, there is a noticeable drop in air flow. It's not a deal breaker by any means. I'm just a hair under 36,000 miles and already have a decent amount of dust build up inside the area where the filter resides. I'll live with the reduced flow........

FYI--TDR member Flopster843 has completed a prototype install of a full flow HEPA charcoal filter for the HVAC in our trucks.

He has a thread with part #'s and pix here about it, but I cannot find it right now.
