They are nice looking tires, and look plenty aggressive for most of the stuff we ask our trucks to do. Do they have a 285 E Rated Tire?

Pretty sure that the 285 is D-rated; Don't know why, wish I did.

Go here--http://www.michelinman.com:80/tires/light-truck/ltx-at2/#sizes-and-specifications

Then click tire specs and pick a size to view specs.

PS--I DO really like my E-rated ltx/at2. Had em for 10k miles on highway, in snow and rain, and on gravel roads. Handle great, wearing well. Took only 2 wheel weights on the stock forged aluminum rims to balance the whole set of tires and wheels. I think I'll see 35k miles, based on wear right now. Definitely buy em again, unless something else shows up better.

I have had a set on my truck now, for about 6-7 months. Wearing well, and a big improvement in wet pavement handling. They grip the wet road, much better than the stock Michelins. Haven't been off road with them, yet. But I would definitely buy another set.

I like the looks of these tires. I just picked up a 1/4 inch bolt square into the middle of a front, and my tread is real close to the wear bars of my original LTX's. I guess 66K is about it for me.

I went looking for the AT2's and found them available right away from tirerack.com, and with a lead time from my local tire guy. They admitted to tough availability, but they could get them. Their quote was $1000 all said and done. Didn't do it yet.

Had a set on for about 2 months now. No real weather to test them in (yet) but winter is coming... .

I have found that they do hold small rocks in the tread and then throw them at higher speeds. Lots of nice clanking noises on the truck body. #@$%!

A little more road noise and I have noticed what I believe is slightly more road wander. Would a steering brace help? I dunno.

Just my valuable and highly technical review.

Best -

Carnivalworker, I don't know where you got yours or how much you paid. One thing is certain, you don't have OWL and they're 16's. Both factors make then cheaper... .

I went to costco and they were $7 more than the local tire guy for the whole deal tax and all, so I pulled the trigger. They're will be in around Friday. They did it without even seeing my membership card.

Well, I finally got mine. It took a few days but costco came through. The tires look great and the steering effort is way down, less than i remember when it was new.

It was raining out when I hit the road for about 25 miles of errands. It hasn't rained around here for a while so i was expecting slick roads, and I have to say the tires performed real well. They didn't need much weight to balance, 1. 25/. 25 once on one wheel I saw them do.

Of course my deal couldn't have gone perfectly. For some reason, the tire techs felt the need to clean off the anti-seize I keep on the hubs so they used 8, yes eight cans of cleaner (Itemized on the R. O. but not charged to me) to clean the hubs and the wheels

Sure enough after i got home and cleaned things up and put the center caps on and all, you can see the damage on the 2 rear wheels there are runs in the clear coat of the wheel. I went back and showed them. It looks like they will make good on some sort of compensation. To be continued.

Seafish,

Your right about the mileage warranty. I think my truck weighs close to the same as yours with my camper shell and assorted stuff in the back and I have been getting close to 50k on my tires(Revo's and BFG Long Trails). I also tow a boat and trailer(app. 11k) most weekends during the summer. I'm really suprised at your tire mileage thats why I commented on it. I rotate and balance my tires every 5k faithfully and I don't do much off-road driving so maybe that helps with my mileage. I'm anxious to see if these AT/2's are as good on wet pavement as my Revo's were.

Hello to all, I'm a newbie member from Seattle area (Renton). I recently bought a 2WD 3500 Long Bed one previous original owner that's real cream puff... ...

I have NO plans to go off road on purpose. Bought truck to pull my enclosed car trailer and previous owner puleed a 5'ver all over the West.

Anyway truck has 50% left LTX A/S Michelins. From what I gather at the Tire Rack forums and COSTCO the LTX A/S is about as Highway a tire as you can

get... ...

I'll be reading and asking and reading more... ... . but looking for comments on Michelin LTX A/S 265 x 70 x 17 versus OTHER HIGHWAY TIRES... for my Single Rear Tire 3500... .....

If I dont have to put up with noise maybe I should move to a MICHELIN or ??? that could handle some high pass snow better than the A/S's

Thanks to all... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Just wanted to update on my situation- hadn't seen this post in a while. Costco made good and bought me 2 brand new Mopar wheels to replace the damaged wheels. The winter has given pretty average snow, and these AT2's are MUCH better than the OE LTX's. I am extremley pleased with them. Wet weather handling is awesome.

CamarosRus, there is a difference between the OE LTX's and the LTX AT2. Both are available. Both are excellent tires, but the AT2 is much better in wet/ snow. Regarding noise, both tires are real quiet but the AT2 has some scrub if you accelerate out of a tight turn. Very grippy tire!

This tire changes it's

pattern at about the 50% point as do many many tires. I mean if you look at the tread, there is a top design that handles water very well but when it wears out (the 50% area) there is a 2nd face that doesn't accomplish the side evacuation, and completely changes the tread face. I try to avoid these designs if possible.

Absolutely NO question that the AT2's are a great tire. If I had a 4x4 coulda/woulda/shoulda been my choice... ... ... ... ... .....

But as my truck is 2WD, I pulled the trigger on the GENERAL Grabber HTS 265 x 70 x 17 Load Range E/10 ply... .....

I read all the reviews at Consumers Report, TireRack.com. and 4x4 Magazine and just decided they are the best Highway All Season Tire.

Paid $548 for four at . onlinetires.com, plus $95 shipping (NO sales tax). Then I will pay Discount Tire $79 (or less?) to mount on the OEM polished alloys, inflate with nitrogen, balance and rotate as needed. $722 Est TOTAL

We shall see... ... ... ... ... ... .

Thanks, Chuck from seattle

The Hankook RF10's look like another nice E rated tire with decent all terrain tread. My buddy at work just got a set of 285/70R17's and they are rated to 3750LBs at 80PSI. Plus, they were about 165 a tire. I think they might be the next set once the Toyo's are wore out. Scotty
