The type of driving you do really does make a big difference in regens. Mine is a daily commuter of about 20 miles (takes 40 minutes) each way of stop and go with a top speed of 45mph. about every two weeks I take a 40 mile trip on the freeway at about 60mph.
I have the Edge Insight guage and with it you can track almost any of the trucks sensors. The trucks system has two EGT sensors post turbo, one before the Nox absorber and the other before the DPT. The guage also monitors the DPT load and the time since the last regen. Normal dirving keep the EGT around 600 to 700. Regen jumps to 1,100.
My driving causes a regen every 4,500 seconds or about 1 1/2 hours of running. If it is not able to complete a regen sometimes it will restart one as low as 2,000 seconds. If the temps are higher or on the highway it can go as long as 15,000 seconds. My DPT load varies from 29% to 70% so I have never seen a overhead warning.
When a regen starts it bring everything up to 1,100 degrees for about 8 to 10 minutes then if conditions permit it finally starts the de-soot phase of the regen. That is when you see the filter load start droping. The coments about power are correct, very noticable at low speed and starts from stops. Nothing at speed.
Mine started having codes at about 4,600 miles and when the pipe wrap and new O2 sensors with the AY flash was done at 19,000, no more codes and mileage when from 13. 4 to 14. 6 city and 15. 2 to 17 highway. They had also replaced the turbo back around 12,000.
Maybe see you folks at May Maddness.
