Mineral Oil

Want to hook up another fuel tank to run a two tank system.

What type of hoses would be ok with vegie oil.

where would you pull fuel from the tank , the top or out the side at the bottom & why

the two tank swith over valve, off a factory ford or GM

with the wiring & Dash switch can it be made to work. & would brass fittings be OK.

any toughts on a fuel heater of some kind.

Been running a one tank system for two years 98 12v loves it summer fine

winter so so at start up. if it gets to about 36 deg.

i do not try to start it I use the 24 valve on diesel instead.

SAE30R7 hoses will be fine with VO, SAE30R9 if you're running high blends of biodiesel.

I would pull fuel out of the top of the tank with something like a Hotfox (which also puts some heat in the tank). That way you aren't relying on a fitting keeping everything in the tank.

Heat the entire system. If nothing else, heat your filter and run the fuel through a heat exchanger before sending it to the injection pump.

This is causing bigger problems than you think when it doesn't start. If you want to avoid doing serious damage to your engine at some point, you need to go with a two tank system. When you cold start the engine on VO, you are sending some of the fuel past the rings and contaminating the crankcase oil. VO and engine oil don't play well together, and result in what is called oxidative polymerization (a good analogy is paint drying, albeit at a slower pace) where your engine lube oil will rapidly deteriorate, damaging your engine. I've encountered this first hand single tanking out of a '04 Jetta TDI. Long story short, due to engine oil deterioration, it threw a rod through the side of the block.

2 tank it, wait until the engine is warm before burning VO, heat the system, and you'll be happier in the long run.

More info on lube oil contamination with VO can be found here.
