I have been stuck with my 3500 dually 4X4 4 times and I hate this truck. What do I have to do so that I have a true four wheel drive??

Not really sure I can be of any help, but you really should give more info on your truck so others might help. Year, tires, mods, etc.

if you have the stock tires with the heavy diesel front end stay on hard dirt.

in the NM desert; i've ended up on my frame a couple of times. and you don't want to let air out of your tires when you're truck is loaded.

A Dodge Ram dually with Cummins engine is not an off-road vehicle. It is designed and built to provide hundreds of thousands of miles of economical, reliable, heavy towing or hauling.

:-laf I beg to differ... ... ... ... ... both my 94 and 05 are VERY capable off roaders.

When I go to Glamis (sand dunes) I have at least 1k in the bed and 750lbs of trailer tongue wt. I do air down and it is just fine. I still recommend it. Empty or loaded, the amount of air you release will vary with the load. We are not talking about hi speed driving here.

Perhaps so, but what tradeoffs were made when you made them so capable? Mine was purchased specifically to haul trailers, and it performs superbly at this task. But since I started to work up in north, I've discovered that it will get stuck just looking at snow or ice. One of the workers has a 4WD Powerstroke, and still gets stuck in the deeper stuff. Larger and more aggressive tires might help, but that would change the geometry that I need in order to haul a trailer straight & level.

Are yours set up in a way suitable for hauling 31' and 10,000 lbs? If so, how are you set up? Or are they set up for off-roading?

Just curious.

My 07. 5 with Goodyear 19. 5s, I ordered these tires because I wanted a good long lasting over the road tire to pull my 5er and that they do well. While RVing at Hatteras last year we went out onto the beach at Okracoke and just about did not make it on the access road to the beach with the foot of very soft sand. It was obvious the front end was the culprit. With the heavy CumminZ over the front end was tooo much for the float. I did like it when we had soft sand in front of RV site at White lake. The sand was soft but only 3 or 4 inches. The tires floated very well.

my 05 qc ctd 3500 dully with the stock "off-road" goodyears they were narrow, no flotation, and have to be rotated every 3000 miles because of uneven wear. i thought they were lousey for on-road and off-road. unfortunately with the '08 5500 same tread pattern same lousey tire, just 2k lbs more to try to stay on top of the sand with.
