I heard something about that... really never got the whole story first hand, so I didn't want to assume and report false information. But if Gene said so, then I would believe it to be the truth. I saw some REALLY high transmission temps the day it started laying down... no doubt, it got HOT!!. The guys did a great job of getting it RIGHT. I've put some serious miles on it since I got it back and it has worked flawless. Actually, better than it EVER has.
I test drove the 3/4 4x4 off-road King Ranch that is two tone copper/tan. It WAS impressive! Ride, feel, creature comforts, REAL crew cab!!. . etc. . although the salesman was useless. All the salesman kept doing was flooring it from every stop and kept repeating: ITS GOT 400 HP!!!" He had NO clue about the rest of the truck!!.
BUT, when I look at the old goat with 40K miles and paid for... ... . well... . it IS paid for. . !!!!. Not having to pay a mileage "penalty" for cleaner emissions, no increased maintenance costs. . (you should REALLY price the dual fuel filters that are required for the new FORD. )
As for the truck that got the engine replaced, its BACK in the shop today... went in "on the hook" with symptoms of a catostrophic turbocharger failure.
