My 2006 megacab threw a code p 0341 last october when started getting cold in IN. I have ATS intake, 5 inch cat-back exhaust and predator on lowest setting on had it on for few months. Changed camshaft sensor and CEL came back, took to dealership and said my cp3 was leaking and needs replaced. Did it and they didn't address initial problem. Changed sensor again. Still no change. Replaced both batteries. Took to local diesel mechanic and he changed sensor again... . and looked at wiring by ac pump that may have melted coating on wiring... nothing. it always starts! Drives. Sounds "boggy" when driving with no pep that it had. I changed everything back to stock... programmer, Intake..... minus the exhaust. Two dodge dealerships say its the camshaft sensor... ... its been changes 4 times! Tramsmission takes a little longer to shift. I feel like I've looked at everything and the CEL WONT STAY OFF.

One thing you can do to eliminate the sensor (which I also don't believe is bad) is to trade it with the crank position sensor and see if you still get the P0341 code. They're both the same part.

Yep did that and its always the camshaft position sensor code. Something that I've seen I. Some forums is they are getting these codes when their lift pumps are bad. im ordering a new one and see if it changes anything..... perhaps maybe starved my cp3 and caused it to fail. Not sure why none of the places I've taken it have checked the lift pump. People on here know more than the places I've gone.

Yes. While I had the cp3 out I unwrapped the wires, and cleaned the diesel residue from the pesky cp3 off the wires. If there was portion of wire that had break in the outer coating, would taping that portion of wire and putting loom over it be sufficient? All three mechanics say that the plug is good and getting correct amps.

You cannot starve a CP3... If it does NOT have sufficient volume it will NOT operate (correctly) it will die,or buck and jerk,It may throw codes, but you want be guessing whats the cause.

I had a truck come in last year with the same problem, kept setting the cam sensor code. Started wiggling connectors until it stumbled and found a loose connection at the engine controller on the cam sensor signal wire. The pin itself was loose. Fixed that and the problem was gone.

I have been helping a buddy with the same issue on his 02 7. 3 PSD, CPS fault with a good CPS. We finally found a warbled out connection on the OEM harness side, it looked good with the light directly on it, but the shadow was different when we looked at it with a 90° angle on the light. .

Since your issue seems to be on the ECM side I would unbolt the ECM connection and ensure the pins are fully seated.

Spoke too soon... . next morning started up fine and before I made it out the driveway back to the beastly diesel noise and lack of power. No codes when I checked it.

Pulled the wiring harness and unwrapped to expose wiring..... nothing obvious. Rewrapped it and put it back on the truck. No other codes, just p0341... ...

Also checked ohms and things checked out. New ecu????? Somethhing wrong with cam? I need to figure this out. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

Reset the apps. Went through the procedure and cleared codes before started it up. Off the bat thing runs like its supposed to accelerates and transmission shifts smoothly. Will keep you all updated.

I can't explain why, but you are going to need a camshaft. It is one of those things I have run into a couple of times and the only thing that fixes it is the cam. Another tech brought one to Chrysler tech school a while back he replaced for the same reason and it checks identical to the ones in the training center engines, but yet it fixed his truck also. I'm assuming you have hard wired the sensor circuit and replaced the connector before coming to this conclusion, otherwise you need to rule out that first.
