Holy cow! I have been searching for a 2006-2007 5. 9L Mega Cab 4x4 with 3. 73 gears and a 6-speed and under 60K for two months and have been very unsuccessful. I know it won't come cheap but I thought I might post something here in hopes that someone knows where I should try looking. I know there are people out there that are particularly good at finding certain vehicles... . just hoping someone here knows a person or place like that. . Thanks

P. S. Grey, Electric Blue, Silver or Patriot Blue would be even better.

Those of us that bought them new are holding on to them. I bought mine when I did just so I could have one of the last 5. 9's. It's going to take a while to convince myself to let it go..... even though I have that itch for a new truck.

Adam

Thanks for the heads-up; I saw that one yesterday and called on it today... gone. Sold for FULL PRICE!! I'll keep looking. Just hope I find something.

I agree totally. I plan on keeping this gem for quite a while.

I can pretty much say the same, bought my 2006 because I did not want the up and coming smog stuff that was to begin in 2007. I have no itch whatsoever for a new truck, just turned 60K with mine and am very happy with it.

GOOD LUCK finding one, they are RARE to come by.

Good 03/04s are even worst. . to find. Sure their some for sale that are POS. . But good 03/04 under 100k and you will pay top $ for it.

If you go with Texas Direct Auto make sure you see the truck in person first

I'd stay away from North Texas Truck Stop, a search on here and other Cummins websites will report plenty of horror stories

Dave Smith Motors does a huge volume. Ed West up there might be able to help. -- email address removed --.

I ordered mine through them a month before the cutoff date.

I would check edmunds.com and auto trader. Had my 07 5. 9L in for service this morning. The diesel tech offered to buy it and said he had a half dozen friends that would do the same. Be patient, you'll find one, but you may have to travel a distance to get it.

I just got my '07 in January and I looked for about 3-4 months. Set up a saved search on ebay motors, traderonline (think that's auto trader) and monitor what comes in. Craigs list is another good option although it's harder to search. The day my truck posted the sales guy said they had 4 other people on the phone about it while i was talking to them. I bought it with 30 minutes. I was luck to find one with 9K miles, laramie, loaded, with a 6 spd. I had only ran across 3 other 6spds (non-laramie) all with 90-100K miles on them.

Bought mine at Dave Smith after months of looking and giving up. I wanted a used 5. 9 HO, 6-speed, QC long box. Nothing. I was going to their web site every day and actually asked them to contact me on a few trucks. Every time they were already sold. Found out the new car sales guys had the trade ins sold before the used car guys could get them listed. I called the sales manager for help on this issue. I ended up getting exactly what I wanted when a deal with another guy trying to trade down went south. They called me and I made a deposit over the phone. I had to move fast and drive over there immediately. I had all my financing ready so I could pull the trigger. There was no haggling. There were probably a dozen guys behind me that would take it for the price I payed. It's all persistence and being ready with a price in mind, researched ahead of time.

I figured a Dodge dealer would get good quality Dodge trade ins, so that's where I concentrated. If you call a few sales people and tell them you're looking, they will do a lot of the leg work. You just need to be ready when the call comes in.

Thank you everyone for the replies.

I am in the process of contacting some dealerships right now. I do have financing in place and ready to go. I'm fine with flying to go get a truck. I think buying Ferrari would be easier than finding an 06/07...

Another option is to get on one of the craigslist search engines and sweep the area. I was astounded at the KBB value of my truck when I looked recently.

just for giggles. . i just checked my truck... nada and kbb both say my truck is worth 30K retail... . that without any of the adders other than the spray-in bedliner...

I think I'll just keep it.

Alright, Alright... quit rubbing it in guys. This isn't funny when you're the guy without a truck :)

so you guys made me curious, our truck is worth two grand more than we paid for it and we've put over 30k miles on it since we bought it. that dont make much sense but is impressive. sorry for rubbing it in more:)

Last winter, a young guy at work purchased a 2006 equipped almost exactly the way my '07 is, but with more miles, for $35,000. That's what I paid for my '07 new. It's just amazing to me. I don't have any intention of selling mine right now, but I'd probably be real tempted if someone offered me that.
