I'm just getting over it and I had a shot a couple months ago! I wonder how sick I had been without the shot. We took care of the grandkids (twins with the flu, what a joy that is) so their mom wouldn't miss work and now it looks like my wife is sick. She had a shot too. It has set back my engine replacement by about 5 days so far.
I've never had the shot and my Dr. said that I should get one next year for sure. I guess that there is some types of the virus that the shot must not cover.
My wife and I go rounds every year over whether or not to get a flu shot... . she has to because shes an RN and she rides my arse because I dont get one. She got a shot back in the fall, and wouldnt you know it she got the flu 3 days later. She was down and out for a week she couldnt even get out of bed. I think thats the sickest Ive ever seen her, even when she was pregnant with our youngest child she went into labor the day after spring break started and went right back to clinicals without missing a day.
Flu shots WORK!!!! when in the Military THEY TOLD YOU YOUR GETTING A FLU SHOT. Went over to the germ fighters they stuck you with a needle and BINGO in a few days YOU HAD THE FLU!!! I know that some are going to say BS but I was the one with the flu. This went on for 3 of the 4 years I was in. The last year they sent down the IBM punch card and said go get the flu, I didnt and when it come time to get discharged at 1 min after midnight ( told you I hate military time) they looked at the paperwork for discharge and said you should have got your shot was the only thing not right. They waved it AND I DIDNT GET THE FLU THAT YEAR!!!!
