Bad vibration noted this am... stopped and hangar bearing rubber mount torn loose from bearing support ring. I managed to push the bearing down the slip joint into approximate original position. Part ordered from NAPA. Can I pack the bearing to prevent it moving forward on the slip joint and allowing the slip joint to possibly be damaged through contact with the square bearing support frame? I was thinking of packing the front of the loose bearing to prevent it from moving forwards and thus allowing the slip joint to contact the carrier bearing framework.....

Temporary fix for local driving only... .

Stupid?

Thanks in advance... .

I think your asking for trouble. If it lets go while going down the road your going to destroy a lot more than your center carrier and potentially cost you hundreds of extra dollars.

If you must drive it remove the rear driveshaft seal the transfer case with an oil resistant glove. I have done this successfully to get a broken truck from deep in baja
