I opened the hood one day, and discovered the stock air filter dP gauge was missing! Not much left, just a small plastic hub where it had been previously attached to the air filter box. A few days later, I found a spring and then the missing pieces of plastic (with the gauge scale) which comprised the rest of the gauge. It looks like the glue that held the yellow and black pieces together gave up entirely! (I'm not aware of any back-fire or other event which could've forced this to come apart!)

My question now, is do I go ahead and drill a small screw into the pressure port (permanently disabling this device) or does anyone know where I might be able to find a replacement gauge?

Thanks,

MWilson located the NAPA part number for me a while back for my 98. When I went there initially they told me they were not available... I would try calling your local NAPA store and ask for it maybe you will have better luck than I did. If not, Maybe Mike will see this and work his part number magic... . :D

The thing is totally useless if you have opened up the air box to flow better anyway. I would just plug it.

I'm confused... I thought this plugged filter device was on the clean air side of the system. . and as the system dropped into a vacuum, the gauge moved. . and it would be a leak (dirty air) if it's broken and fallen off...

No, it's on the clean (filtered air) side. As the filter plugs the restriction gauge rises. On many pieces of equipment and trucks the restriction gauge is mounted on the intake tubing between the air filter housing and the engine intake (or turbo).

The top cover on our trucks is the clean side.

Well as luck would have it our IT guy has just shut the company server down for a reboot..... right in the middle of my nightly orders... . says it will only take 5 minutes... riiiight...

So I have time to search that part number up.

Whew!!! Was worried if you have been taken over by the body snatchers ther MW. :-laf:-laf

Long days and longer nights are taking a toll... ..... I posted it, went back to fighting with the server, then the fog lifted... ..... :D

Called myself a Dumbass and fixed the post... .

Now if I can just get the search to do what I want.....

I was going to link that post yesterday but didn't want to give the op some bad information not knowing if the minders changed between the 2nd and 3rd gens

I now see that he has posted in the 3rd gen section but doesn't give his truck info...

So if he has a 2nd gen he needs the NAPA number listed in the link above.

If he has a 3rd gen then he needs a 53032749AC Mopar which still seem to be available. Will fit 2003 - 2009 trucks. Pricing is in the low $20. 00s.
