I am at a complete loss to explain how this could happen. I have asked for the sample to be run again.
Maybe making it's way in through a vent when a hose burst or something like that?
Something in the Syncromesh oil triggers a anti-freeze positive result?

I would be tempted to run a sample right out of the bottle for comparison. I hope someone else has better insight but it seems to me it has to be something in the oil or maybe a contaminated sample causing the false positive.

Antifreeze but no water in the oil? Try anoher lab, maybe.

Water boils out so if it has been over 212 degrees since the contamination event the water is gone. This may indicate the issue is not a current one. Assuming it was a coolant mix that caused the issue. Otherwise it may have been a contaminated fill funnel/pump. The 500 PPM coolant sensitivity is a drop in the bucket. Although I don't see how it would have happened this is at the level for sample contamination.

Anything in the OEM oil that would trigger this?

All I can think of is a blown coolant hose or other leak somehow allowing coolant in through the breather. Just making sure these isn't any other ways for coolant to get in, known problems requiring a better hose routing etc.

The other concern is the 10 weight the oil sheared down too. Run way too long for sure.

He's talking about his NV 5600 transmission, he's not talking about his engine

:-laf Rodger that. Other than Oil that triggers a false positive, contaminated fill equipment used, or a blown hose that blew coolant everywhere including enough to somehow enter the transmission vent, I am out of ideas.

The re-test of the sample confirmed the results.
