Lately I have been driving with tow/haul mode turned on even when I am not towing. I like the way it shifts later than when not in tow/haul. Does anybody know if there are any negatives to doing this?
It unlocks for a split second so you don't shift locked to locked.
Run TH and EV all the time. Good for the trans and EB. Turn mine on every time. 50K and no problems.
Thank you very much for that information! There is no harm in using Tow/Haul mode all the time. Tow/Haul mode alters the shift schedule (delays some of the shifts, makes it easier to get kickdowns) and gives you more aggressive engine braking / coastdown shifts. Feel free to run in Tow/Haul as much as you want.
I suspect that the reason Tow/Haul defaults to "off" (which cannot be changed, as far as I know) is that your fuel economy will decrease slightly in Tow/Haul mode (due to the later upshifts), so we use the mode with maximum fuel economy as the default.
