Nice!!!! I'll be driving through there next week as it is the shortest way from my house to the Houlton store.

That is US 2A, runs South from Houlton to Macwahoc, then joins with US 2.

In Houlton, the word is "berdater" when spoken by a born and bred Houlton farmer.

My only frame of reference for most areas of Maine is from a snowmobile trail. I know we rode from Presque Isle to Caribou and the trail went along a railbed that was dotted with 'tater packing plants.

Yes, Sir! After Caribou, we looped up through Fort Kent. They had dump trucks and loaders dumping snow ONTO the main drag through town for the snowmobile parade! We rode the "border trail" to Houlton, as well. Portage Lake, Ashland, We were through many of those towns. When we were in Ashland they were in a panic, as Uncle Sam was going to close the Airforce Base(Loring?) When we went to Greenville(Roadkill Cafe), we rode to the crash site of a B-52 scattered on the mountain. Had lots of fun times in Maine!

Back in the early sixties my old man almost froze to death on the Haynesville road. Gas line froze at midnight in Jan. nobody came by till daylight. The fool left RI after work in a sport coat and loafers. You'd think he'd have known better growing up in Allagash.

Not much for traffic at night nowadays either up through there. Cell phones only work in certain areas. I carry extra clothes and boots in the car just in case. Doesn't take long to get into trouble with a dead vehicle at -10 below.

WOW.....i haven't heard that Dick Curless tune since i was a kid and always wondered where Haynesville was everytime i pass through Maine. Heading down that way to Orlando with a bus load of frosty Eastern Canadians on Friday .......breakfast at Dysarts.....do you get in there often Mike?

The hardest part of carrying extra stuff is that I throw it in the trunk when I have passengers. This has reminded me to get it back into the back seat today. It would be a lot nicer to put it on all pre-warmed and dry. Plus I could reach it from the drivers seat if needed. For example leaving the road with this kind of snow on the ground could result in not being able to open any of the doors. Even if the car would still run the exhaust pipes could be blocked as well.

Don't get there too often as I carry my lunch everyday. However I have been known to make my reps take me there on occasion. Everything that they have on the menu is excellent. I like the poutine!!!!

I have been there many times and the food is always excellent. If they sold Tim Hortons coffee......wouldn't that make it just the best stop on I-95 ?

Wife and I were just talking, her grandfather came here from Newfoundland. Stephensville to be exact. She would like to go up there as there are many relatives that stayed.

Stephenville is a great place. I spent a lot of time over there as a kid ,helping around the transport trucks . It was really booming when the American air force base was there....closed in 1963. .... SAC EHAFB.....(strategic air command Earnest Harmon Air Force Base.
We usually leave Moncton NB around 3 in the morning and that puts us there for breakfast around 9 am Maine time.

Sorry Mike..... That's Wednesday morning not Friday . Around 9:30 am if there is no hang up with the good folks on board at Houlton. Supposed to get some more snow in Moncton on Wednesday ..... About 4 inches or so .... Well, 10 cm up here. No biggie.
