I have lost two while driving now both of the back wheels. I know several others that have also. At $150 a piece it has gotten to be expensive. I wondered if any of you all have a secret for keeping them on or if mine where just made on a friday afternoon.

At $150 a piece, maybe someone is borrowing them.

The first one I lost I could swear it was on when I left, but the second one I know it was on when I left Ft. Smith Sunday night and when I got home it was gone. I am planing to speak to the dealer about it but wondered if anyone here has been down the road. I have 28k miles on the truck and the only time the tires have been touched is by the dealer when they had to rebalance them after I bought the truck cause it would shake fillings out.

I have not lost one yet, but good to see a fellow Arkansas Longhorn owner on here.

I lost one front and one rear. Won't pay that high price for a piece of plastic, got Chrome acorn lug nuts for $235, like the look better that the center caps.

Although I have a lowly Tradesman with steel wheels, I have had my wheels off several times performing tire rotations (six times, actually) and both the front & rear center caps require a decent amount of effort to seat them when re-installing. Once installed----there's a definite sound you'll hear whenever they are installed correctly.

Lowly Tradesman here with steel wheels. Been flirting with the idea of getting a locking lug nut for each wheel.

Car in my neighborhood had all 4 wheels stolen and they left it sitting on cinder blocks from a neighboring construction site.

I think the theives haven't tried to remove the center caps. And that is why I still have rims. Or maybe steel wheels don't bring a good resale value?

While I do not have a 4th gen mine is an 01. I have been missing a cap for several years. I pulled over one day to get out and stretch for a minute on a road trip. Low and behold there was a cap in the tall grass. It was for a newer truck than mine but I thought what the heck. So I stuck it on and it stayed for a while then I saw it rolling down the road in the side view mirror. Stopped and grabbed it thinking well I can figure out someway to get it to stay on better. So a few weeks ago I tried it out and it just didn't take much to get it off. So I grabbed a bottle of liquid rubber (you know the stuff you can dip tool handles in etc). Well I just painted the inside of the plastic clips that go over the lug nuts and hold it on. I put two thick coats and it snugged it up pretty good and so far so good been a couple thousand miles so far.

All I know is my third generation truck have been on and off numerous time in the 12 years of their life and they are still on and haven't come off. I hope the new ones I bought stay on better cause they cost too much to just fall off.

So far, I have not lost one off of any of my trucks. At $150 each, I would suspect someone is borrowing them and forgetting to return them.:-laf

I have just broke 20k miles on my Longhorn and have not lost a center cap yet. About 4k of those miles have been on the haul road to Deadhorse and the Steese highway to Circle, Alaska......mostly gravel and kinda rough. I think somebody is stealing them.

The center caps are two piece design. A black inner and the chrome outer. You must be sure they
are snapped together properly or they will turn up missing.

I have a 13 & recently lost a rear center cap. Can't say if it was swiped or just came off, but if it happens again, I'll find another route to take.

There's a place in Miami called "Hubcap Heaven" where everyone goes to buy back their stolen hubcaps, rims, and center caps.

You might have one of those in your neighborhood. Also check the flea market.

Mine both defiantly fell off while driving. The dealership mentioned that I check the lugs as if the loosened any that, that would cause the caps to come off. I have heard about aluminum hubs coming loose so I bought into this explanation somewhat. I did check all of mine with a four way and one was definitely loose the rest might have moved a degree. I also have the POS generals that have never balanced worth a flip. I wondered if some of the vibration might have caused them to come off. Got two new ones to put on but am waiting till the centermatic balancers come in.

Ebay has a set of 4 for $84. Probably someone who upgraded to aluminum rims.

I don't know if longhorn ones are different.

Haven't lost my tradesman with chrome upgrade ones.
