This has been creeping up for a while. The cars and your phone are capable of ratting you out. Right now they're enticing people with discounts to let them in. Of course, once they're in they will not want to leave. My prediction is that everyone will be forced to have their proprietary technology used against them, and the discounts will be gone.

Vote in The poll. Let's see how members feel about this.

One of the reasons I drive an older truck - No U-Connect, No OnStar Spy/location tracker, etc. The Black Box for the air bag on one of them is bad enough.

Can we get out of paying your claim? Can we charge you more? Can we leave you holding the risk while we refuse to work with the other party causing them to sue you? Can we use your history to refuse to pay causing you to loose your home etc. to a lawsuit we were supposed to protect you from?

You do know hard acceleration is a reason to not give you a discount. Never mind hard acceleration can get you out of the way of a bad wreck, find (get to) shelter from a tornado etc.

The Flipside is dash cameras are very useful to prove your innocence from time to time.

The masses that fall for things like this are educated in our useless Public Schools and don't think about long term consequences like this.

Just my opinion. But I consider anyone who knowingly participates in this or any other "spy" technology perpetrated by insurance companies, car companies, etc, to be my personal enemy and a traitor (yes traitor) to the United States of America. Especially when they are selling out for personal financial gain. If enough people dont go along with this, it will fail. But if enough do go along with it, it is just another nail in our coffin.

I thought it was more than coincidental that the story I linked above was grouped with a story on the big 0's message today.

I would think so. It's your camera and SD card.

Mine runs on a 4 hour continuous loop. Has a G-force enabled freeze / stop function in case you can't turn it off yourself or are otherwise occupied after an event...

With cameras and GPS someday they will arrest you and haul you into court because you were in an area where a crime, unbeknownst to you, took place and you will have to prove that you had nothing to do with said crime.

I think to much. ;)

IN NYC that's already happening with cams on buildings and such. That don't include the NYPD cams downtown and times sq and such.

I don't have a problem with the insurance co. knowing my driving habits if it results in lower premiums.

You will be surprised if it gets used against you in the future. And once you 'sold' your habits to monitoring you are NOT guaranteed lower premiums. 'Oh, you accelerated or slowed down too fast', 'You were driving only 10 MPH below the speed limit on a snow day.' However your monitoring information data and results will be stored forever for people to find something wrong with in the future.

If the media gets hold of it you have ammo out there for them to blame you regardless of if it's your fault or not.

If you are willing to give up any freedom for financial gain, especially if it affects any other American, you disgust me. Sorry, buts thats just the way I am.
