Dont know where this belongs...

I have several close friends in St. Augustine. They evacuated last evening. I'm not sure where they ended up, but I know they were on the road.

I am in the Orlando area, Winter Park north east of Orlando but connected.
My produce stand is 10 miles east of Winter park in Oviedo.
Went to market this morning,my Mom had fit I was going to open today. She went home for lunch. Comes back about 3. She sees me standing she crying and di mean crying that the huricane is coming and the Mayor of Orlando ordrered all businesses be closed by 5 and the weather guys get to shelter. I told her I was in Oviedo not Orlando and the weather man were exited because they had something else to report besides "its going be hot with a chance of rain
She is a alarmist beside other things. *She asked me why I wad just standing there. I told i was taking a breather. I already put boxed pie pumpkins gourds and few non parishable items on the liner
As we were just sbout to close she says we didn't buy extra water. *
Which the night before I was going to buy water at the market. I told when I got back from the market I bought 4 cases of water, so reminded her again that I had 4 cases on the back seat of the Mule.
In 2004 when charlie came thru with 100 mile winds. Going with the reports it was going up the west coast I put the produce that neefed to be kept cold in the cooler and *covered uo the rest of the produce with tarps and put crates on the tarp like always and went home.
Oh by the way its open air market. The next morning made it to the stand about 6 plywood sheets had blown off which I used for roofs fot the tables but the crates and the tarps were in the same place as I had left them.*

My aunt and husband are just outside Orlando. Winds are whipping right now 01200 eastern time. I am texting her right now.

I've been following it pretty close. I have to be in Ft Lauderdale Sunday through Friday. Im surprised to see the NHC server down. Seems like they would be backed up and able to broadcast from somewhere else. It would have been better if this storm just dove straight on land (in an unpopulated area) somewhere and fizzle. There's not much worse of a track to affect so many as it's on now. The earlier reports did say the hurricane force winds are tightly packed so at least there's something to lessen the impact. And the west side of a northward moving storm is the best place to be so anyone just slightly inshore are on the better side.

Been praying for folks since before it hit Haiti.
In the last day, there seems to be a conspiracy theory brewing about this storm. I mean it's obvious to see what it's done so far, but some think the government is overreacting and using certain gov agencies to scare people. Some are looking at bouys and markers that are not gov controlled, and they tell another story. I wouldn't be suprised about anything nowadays- more skeptical than ever. On the other hand, I lived through superstorm Sandy so I know how it can get.

Wayne - Are people speculating that this is a man made storm?

This mornings reports seem a lot less exciting than what they were predicting 12 hours ago...... but still 100's of thousands without power.

Leave it to government to cry wolf over and over so people now just ignore it. Even them saying, ''you are going to die'' is not enough for far too many.... and everyone that ''survives'' will be even more stubborn next time.

I do think some are using it to push the climate agenda, but I meant that the gov is using it as leverage for control.
Just give me the facts and the tools to get them. Let me make my own decision.

We're gonna get ours tonight/tomorrow just west of Darlington SC. The coast of SC is bracing, Charleston started evacuation on tues, and north from there Georgetown to Myrtle Beach are starting too.

I just came up a good portion of the NJ Turnpike- saw bunches of lineman trucks headed south. I wonder if our very own Tramplineman is going down?

Indeed- thoughts and prayers.
I couldn't believe that model from 48H ago showing a letter P going right back into Fla after going up the coast!

I read about that in The Drudge Report. Makes me skeptical as well.

They were waiting for Mat to take a wobble. Lucky for us in land it wobbled to the east 10 miles. *We still got a lot of rain. The coast got hit hard.
The tree in front of my stand got trimmed/ pruned and blew a lot of spanish moss off it. My Mother raked most of it up and *I threw next to fence on the side. Most of my customers who came in said there trees were trimmed a lilttle. We all agreed now we did not have to pay some do it
