The G56 uses the torque and horse power to optimum efficiency .

There fore does not need the extra torque and horse power that the autos need to do the same job.

Not really.I want hp and torque. The trans is not going to hold up at 1k torque.Yes it will get from point a to point b but not the way I want to do it

No idea, mine has been trouble free with over 6K pushing down on it.

Reasons for the 3500, *AISIN, more HP and TQ, more capable truck so you don't have to up grade when you want a larger RV. *
So help me out here...
A srw 3500 asin has exactly 150 pounds more towing capacity than a 2500.

If the use is pulling a trailer, the only apparent reason to go 3500 would be for drw which just about doubles towing capacity. But in your earlier post you specified srw.

Are you saying that the Aisin will hold up to a constant 1000 ft lb tuner?
Because even the companies that reprogram these Cummins with a slightly higher tune and over-ride torque management will tell you that under increased power and torque, the Aisin will fail within several months.

So to bring this back on topic..... You can get yer engine configured one of three ways.. The Manual drive line must be really weak..:-laf

Manual________365 HP...660 Torque
Chrysler auto__375 HP...800 Torque
Aisin auto______385 HP...900 Torque

The 800 and 900 ft lb torque numbers are only available at a narrow band of RPM and in 3rd (and possibly 4th gear). Most of the time these automatics are actually operating closer to 700 ft lbs and change. Mercedes uses the g56 in many of their medium duty trucks. And warranties them for 100,000 miles.

The g56 saves you some weight because it is lighter.

Just choose the transmission that you want. It's a big investment. Don't let others tell you what to buy.

"towing capacity" is mostly irrelevant, it's what is the carrying capacity. *With the AISIN it allows for a bump in HP and TQ, I did say "more capable".

2500 srw 4x4 LB * * * * * *3500 srw 4x4 lb

FAWR 5,750# * * * * * * * * *6,000#
RAWR 6,000# * * * * * * * * 7,000#
Trailer max 17,550# * * 17,420#
GCVWR 25,300# * * * * * *25,300#

I had a stick International years ago. 4 speed, the fastest thing to 15 mph on the street but you were doing 10 before you got it shifted. Have had all auto Cummins *and am well satisfied.

Looking at toy haulers, I found that most with 12' garages and 17000lbs have a pin weight that exceeds the 2500. I will need a 3500 for that reason only.

Ever been caught on the I5 Freeway outside of Dodger Stadium in stop and go traffic pulling a 38 foot Fifth wheel?. I have. My 04.5 Cummins sucked in this situation. Constantly pushing clutch in and letting the clutch out. I HATE STICKS...My 69 GTO was auto and never got beat. Now own 15 ram AISIN. LOVE IT,! Tow hail mode keeps transmission out of overdrive 6 gear. Use exhaust brake and this will slow the truck to a stop..*
* * *My 04 had the nv-5600 with 4:10s . Pulling the Rv and climbing our local grade I could hit 53 mph.. The new truck with 3:42s pulls the Trailer as fast as I want. Love the autos...

After going through what I went through on my G56. (I won't bore anyone anymore about my problem) I swore that my next truck would be an auto. In late 2014, the service company I used to work for bought me a 2014 2500 CTD with the 68rfe. I hated it, the 68rfe is a slush box and when coupled with a 3:42 rear diff, it's even worse. Unfortunately you can't get the Aisin auto in a 2500, so with that in mind I'd buy a 2500 manual and treat the clutch with TLC. The best option that Ram offers with what your contemplating would be to get a SRW 3500 with the Aisin. The only issue I'm aware of with an Aisin Auto is the dead pedal issue in which the 68rfe has as well. If you want to discuss my issues, which in my opinion is critical to all G56 owners, PM me your phone number and we can talk. Good luck with your decision.*

Yes I have, however I went through the stadium traffic in my 04.5 NV5600 unloaded, and Id do it again. Are you sure it wasn't during a NASCAR event at Fontana Motor Speedway? The 15 FWY is @ 40 miles from Dodger Stadium. I have gone through many traffic jams at 17K GCW with my NV5600, as well as my G56 @ 23K GCW and wouldn't think twice about doing it again. But I'd buy a DRW 3500 Aisin auto, with a 4:10 rear differential, if I was to buy a new truck.*
