I just noticed today that there is no under hood light on my Laramie. Is this right, it doesn't come with an under hood light?

if you have the part numbers as you will need the wiring harness also, look on ebay that's where I found mine it was way cheaper than from RAM. Also the power plug is on the fire wall above the antifreeze burp tank it'll have a blank off plug in it.

When I purchased my 2017 in October, I was informed by my salesman that the 2018 models would not have an under hood light. There are a few other what he called "minor" features which FCA is eliminating and that is where the conversation stopped about a 2017 versus a 2018. I kindly explained to him that an under hood light - ON A TRUCK - is not a minor feature and I purchased a 2017.

I have one for ya. My 2018 Laramie has the button and even said it had the rear defroster but upon further investigation yep its not in there. Currently waiting to see what they are going to do about it.

Take a look at your build sheet...it's a wonderful work of fiction. There are a number of items on it including a front license plate bracket that are not installed on the truck. I too have the button for the "defroster" but in reality I learned this is the button to defrost the outside mirrors, not the rear window. I love my Ram and have loved every one of them I've owned in my life and hope this FCA Italian corner cutting doesn't harm the brand.

I also thought it was for my side mirrors just with the wrong name on it and was corrected when it was taken apart and found they weren't even plugged in and they are set to an auto setting.

My Monroney sticker said my truck had adjustable pedals. Nope.
Take it up with them I'm not dropping it as it was part of the reason I took this one instead of ordering what I really wanted. If you have it on the build sheet they owe it to you. That's how it works other wise it's selling with false advertisement.

With no under hood light, it must save them about $20. I just found it odd that it has everything else lit up on the interior, and no light under the hood! I don't think rear window defrost is standard on the Laramie's anymore either.

I'm sure that it saves them a little money. They also probably eliminated it since it makes it just a little harder for the owner to do anything under the hood. Let's face it, they want you to be connected to the dealer for everything.

But when you pay for it and it's on your buildsheet it should be equipped.

I miss the under hood lamp my 89 had. It had a retractable cord that could reach the rear tires. My Great Uncle laughed when he saw it, he was i die hard Chevy man. He said what do you need that for? they plan on that Dodge breaking down all the time? Ha ah... I replied No that lamp is there so you can help your friend fix his Chevy when it breaks down. And that Cummins engine under the hood is there to drag the Chevy off the road an to the dump when it can't be fixed.... That said I wish someone would re make that drop lamp asy it really was a great item to have under the hood.

The lamp assembly on my 2010 couldn't have cost more than a few dollars to make--if even that.

Such as it is, eliminating a few dollars from tens of thousands of builds means something to some bottom-line watcher somewhere.

However, items listed on the build that are not present on the truck are a pretty big deal. I'd be ****** and would certainly bring it back to the dealer.
