Known facts:
1) Per RAMS statement, vehicles with the Cummins 6.7L turbodiesel manufactured after Feb 2017 are not in a water pump recall.
2) Bases upon the below RAM Customer Assistance Center statement (which was copied and edited from another post) they must engineer, test, manufacture it to make sure it will remedy the situation permanently before they distribute the parts to the dealerships to fix a known problem .
3) Since I have not read anywhere on the internet that ANY dealer has the part and has begun the repair, and since that seems to be the implication in any released RAM statements, then one could correctly assume that they do not yet have a remedy, and, may not have a remedy earlier that the Summer/Fall 2018.
4) Based upon the assumption that there is no remedy, then ANY RAM 6.7L turbodiesel manufactured after Feb 2017 ALSO has the defective water pump. This begs the questions as to why RAM used the Feb 2017 date as a cutoff. More importantly, why would RAM continue to equip and sell a vehicle with a defective part that can cause a fire (which they replicated under controlled conditions) and thus exposed themselves to a number of very expensive lawsuits arising from deaths and/or serious bodily injuries caused by their KNOWN defective product being sold to the public .
5) The other conclusion is that Ram does have a remedy and it is the part installed on the 6.7L turbodisels manufactured after Feb 2017. If this is the case then what the hell is the hold up in getting these parts into the dealerships. It has been 12 MONTHS since a remedy has been found and NOWHERE has any dealer installed the REMEDY. Why the delay. What purpose does it serve to hold back the part and expose loyal customers to loss of property and possible serious bodily injury as well as needless exposure to major lawsuits to the corporation. This is terrible public relations blunder for RAM. There has been more then enough time to ramp up production and put the water pump problem to rest. MY only conclusion is that RAM YOU DON"T GIVE A DAM.
