I removed my original leaf springs shortly after buying my 2500 truck new. So things have changed and I am reinstalling the original leafs and camper helper springs. My issue is for some reason the helpers are only off the stops 1/2 " with only a tool box in the bed. I've read where some people have inches of free play and others have minimal like myself.

My question is, would it be okay to remove the 1" spacer that sits on top of the regular pack and under the camper helper springs? This would give me 1.5" of clearance until the helpers hit the framer stops. Anybody have any experience with this?

The issue with the removal of the spacer block would be the center bolt nut, however, you could remove it and install it on top of the overload pack.

I actually went the other way, I installed a thicker block, so mine would engage sooner for more capacity. The bottom overload is so stiff, that I wanted more resistance of the progressive top overloads for a smoother ride and weight capacity, before the springs made contact with the super stiff bottom overload, it don't give.

Does the center bolt nut only clamp the main spring pack? Then the overloads are only held down by the u-bolts? I couldn't remember so I assumed the overloads were under the center bolt nut too.

I was just looking at your picture. If that is your spring pack, the center bolt nut, as it is, will interfere with the upper spring pack with the spacer off. I think on mine, each spring pack had its own bolt, but I can't remember either, now. I think my eom spacer just "floats" between the two spring packs and I bolted my extra spacer to the overload center bolt, but I may have changed the oem stuff some, again I can't remember, Lol
