Big,

If your two pears are Bradford Pear trees, yank them out and burn them. My wife talked me into planting a couple of them 10 years ago. Big mistake. Google Bradford Pear and you can read tons of information about why they are a poor choice.

Bud

Kieffier & Moonglow Pears, I went outside to take a shot at a Nuisance coyote and figured I'd take a look at the tags Penny left on them. some of the fruit trees are picky as to the types of pollinators needed to produce.

just to let you know I JUST DIG THE HOLES, Penny has the Green Thumb

We've got a variety of dwarf apple (roughly 20 total) and have had a rough time getting any of them to produce. We lost a few to fire blight last year also. We've also got a dozen Asian pear, they are some real producers. Alot of people don't like the flavor but I eat at least a couple a day once they ripen. The wife canned a bunch of them in the fall so we've had pears all winter. My favorites are the 4 RedHaven peach, there's just no better eating than picking one of them off the branch :). These are dwarfs also and only about 6 ft tall right now, the deer made off with a few of them despite putting up a wide fence around each tree. Going to have to try something different this summer.

Try Milorganite fertilizer sprinkled around the edge your garden, I use it as a lawn fertilizer but found it deters critters, Deer included at least in Montana not sure about here in Indiania with the fact that they have been exposed to far more chemical fertlizers & pesticides.

You can be charged with an OVI in Ohio if observed operating "unsafely"

It's a good thing I know the only two officers who ever have a reason to come down my road

They'd have to go a piece off the County Road to find us HA HA HA

Wont be long before my friends will be the guest of honor at the dinner table :D

Grass is looking nice and green, BIG. Everything is still a sickly brown here, under the SNOW :(

We have on & off again days here, Yesterday was around 32* in the AM, the high was near 70* looks like its going to almost the same but the high temp isn't going to be quite as high. Last Monday we had snow for most of the day, not much stuck with the ground temps up. The pasture grass has been greening up well, the cows I brought from Montana eat it more than the feed that we buy. The seed & fertlizer was for our 10 acre lawn thats doing better since last fall when I ran the core plug aerator, manure spreader & chain harrow for 3 days straight trying to break up some of this Indiana Clay. Trees are starting to get leaves so a Later than normal Spring must be close.

We had a record setting (for latest frost in April) freeze a few days ago. Had a pretty good stand of corn but the freeze burned it pretty good, looks like it's gonna come back but it'll take a few days to tell if a replants in order or just plant the skips. Planted peas yesterday, 6 rows of purple hulls. Now for the watermelons.
Best part of the day was burning a steak and sipping Beam as it got dark.

I’ve not tried Bonded Beam. I find that regular Jim suits my palate. Special ocassions call for The Devils Cut. I will put Bonded on the try list though.
