2016 3500 Longhorn - White LED Strips below Headlamps Not Illuminating

A couple of weeks ago the white LED running light strips below the headlights of my 2016 Ram 3500 Longhorn dually decided to quit operating. These are the LEDs that were previously illuminated in the daytime any time the truck was running. In checking the owner's manual, these aren't even mentioned. Any ideas on a good first place to look?

The LED strips aren't really the Canadian-type daytime running lamps. They're the foo-foo decorative visibility lights below the headlamps on the upgraded Longhorn lighting package. The amber LEDs for parking and turn work fine - they're in the same strip. It's just the white LEDs that have taken a dump. Thanks, though.

mine are the same ones... I think there are a couple things you can do before taking it to the dealer: set and release parking brake and maybe fiddle with the shifter some. My gut says final step... dealer check BCM with scanner.

If you go to dealer pls let us know fix and cost.

Rusty, I believe the dealer can change bright parking (foo foo), headlights, or fog lights as DRLs. If you end up taking to dealer, might pick one of the options, if avail. I like the foo foo.

The strange thing to me is that they had been working since new but just quit. I did find a reference in the owner's manual for a fuse for the "Smart Bar" (if equipped) in the master power center under the hood. i wonder if the Smart Bar is these LED strips?

I googled ram smart bar, its auto disconnect for the front sway bar. I believe if your turn signal and parking lights are working, then not a fuse problem. Did you set and release the parking brake a few times or with truck running slowly shift through the gears a couple of times?

When in doubt, remove both battery pos and negative terminals for 15 minutes and see if that works. Reset the computer.

Sun is really bright where we're camping, but you can see the passenger side... bright parking lights basically.

My longHorn "RUNNING" with NO lights on. No lights are visible, never have been.

Something is not working on TDR's picture posting. Says too large. Worked well until recently, I have changed NOTHING!

They were on my 2017 5500 window sticker as daytime running headlamps and whatever the cost was. At first I was going to take to dealer and say parking lamps are not headlamps, then they kinda grew on me. On my wife's 2019, DRL are actual low beams along with the led halos.

I have ALL options but auto wipers and auto headlights. I’m betting it’s part of auto headlights!

I do have a spot that says auto on they knob but that’s different.

Auto Headlights would not make any difference at all, since DRL’s are mandated in Canada. I’m quite sure you do not have DRL’s, as Wiredawg mentioned, they are an extra cost option on American “ship to” builds.

If you have your build sheet or invoice, the DRL sales code is LM5 for the projector style headlights (sales code LLM or LMC).

The DRL sales code is LM1 for the quad halogen headlights (sales code LME) for US built trucks.

Alfa OBD software can change a miriad of sales codes on the 2013 through 2018 MY trucks, eliminating the need for a dealer visit for sales code enabling.
