Heard a rumor that Ford has gotten the boot from UPS and they are going RAM fleet wide. Anybody else hear that? The ups driver I spoke with seems to like it compared to his 5.4 powered truck he got rid of.
Seems like we have a mix of them up here.
Years ago, my buddy that had the machine shop was approached by UPS to do engines for them. As you said, at that time the package cars(heaven forbid you call it a truck)were 300 Fords, and 292 GM I-6s. They gave him a huge binder to review, and in it they outlined all of their specs, what brand of every component that would be used, exactly how they wanted it done, painted, and they had to be run on a test stand for a given time with parameters to monitor before going to them. It was dang impressive. In the end he opted out.As a kid, there was the ever present Ford chassis 300-6 /4speed package car. They must have gotten 25-30 years out of these cars. It’s been like that until about10 years ago. Different looking vehicles started popping up with different sounding powertrains, gas and diesel. I believe the newest ones are Gasoline.
Another observation of UPS has been that IMHO, their maintenance seems to be slacking. I guess Amazon is hurting everyone, but at one time, the UPS fleet was absolutely Sterling, but now I see sloppiness and even trucks running with lights out and even a broken mirror.
We have those around here for small towns that need 4wd and have large routes with lower volume. First I’ve seen a Ram thou.
Well it would make perfect sense, for the big bunch they use the proven and cheap Promaster, and for the Rest some Ram C/C.

Now all the Ram trucks that UPS has swapped to are in a large storage lot being unused. They’ve been quarantined due to the front end recalls in which parts aren’t available for. Way to go Ram.

My Department won’t touch GMC or Ram. They know they will not get the support. Makes me real upset. Another topic here about DEF fluid and a Ram DEF heater/ pump is $1200 if you can get it.
