Prevent Tailgate from getting Stolen

Greetings All,
Hey does anybody have a easy trick, mod or something to prevent the tailgate from being stolen? Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Put a worm clamp on the post on the side the tailgate lifts off. The thief needs to have tools and time to remove clamp. I have had one on mine for a few years.

Love to but the truck is under a Hail cover. Kind of a pain to get to. Just start to take the tailgate off and you will see where the clamp needs to be. First video hose clamp. Second and third master lock and/or hose clamp. Your basically covering the slot that the pin lifta in and out of. I unscrewed the clamp, wrapped it around the round slotted section and reassembled. That saved me from lifting the tailgate out of the slot to install the clamp.

BH, the only stupid question is the one not asked. No problem with the youtube. I think I found the idea from another poster here on the TDR a very long time ago. That was way before companies started making some. Hope it keeps your tailgate safe.

Thank you so very much and being kind....intaglioed it yesterday and "mike drop" no more worries....I caught a another truck checking out my truck and I challenged them, ( gun in boot) and we talked a bit and he was looking for a tailgate.....told him he isn't getting mine......busted them, but still don't trust them....but now I have no worries.....

If I were going to trade in my hose clamp it would be for this. You need a key so even if the thief carried a tool bag with him/her it would not do any good. For $15ish dollars it's more than a clamp but up to the purchaser what they want.

Due to the clearance lights, dually tailgates are not supposed to be removed. The factory installed a pop rivetunder the tailgate pivot to prevent removal. That could be an option to prevent theft.

My original tailgate is long gone, but rivet went through inside lip of horseshoe that surrounds pivot and barely clears pivot post.
