Its the G56 manual trans. They are suspect to the aluminum case softening from heat, that will cause misalignment in the gears. There is even a metal girdle that you can buy bolt to the G56 to keep it from flexing, although I wouldn't waist my money on it.

I've never heard of not being able to run a pump/heat exchanger on a manual trans, in fact Ford had a cooling system for one of their manual trans. Mine works great, it helps alot in keeping it cool. It is not set up to run automaticaly, if the temps go over a certain point, I just keep an eye on the temps and flip a switch, when it gets near the 190/200* temperature. I sometimes run it to the coolest point prior to a long climb up a grade, to start the climb at a lower temperature. There is a flaw in my design that I didn't account for, high temperature from high boost pressure coming off the intercooler effects the trans heat exchanger between the radiator and the intercooler. All I need is to install the BD heat exchanger, that I can locate anywhere I want, to eliminate that flaw. If you want to know the specifics, you can PM me.
 
G56 is a manual.

Tons of G56’s on the road without pumps/coolers and they last. Dad’s was at 160K when he sold it and it felt like new. Always had more power than stock and towed heavy.

The DMF is less than desirable, but the G56 has been a good transmission. It’s also the longest running manual trans for Dodge/Ram.
Really, look at the browned bearings in the picture, these bearings were replaced at @30K miles by Standard Transmission expert, Richard Poels. If that name sounds familiar, its because he helped Joe Donnelly write his artical on the G56 around 2008 for TDR. They get hot and the proof is in the bearings.

It’s still hard to argue with the number of them on the road, with the highest power, GVWR, and GCWR of any Dodge/Ram with a manual trans. Very few issues with them, aside from the clutch. The 6.7 is also much more powerful at lower rpms than the 5.9 and that’s much harder on components... still no issues.
