How to turn up 3406B?

Need Diesel or Propane in the Phoenix Az area

They want some of that M2 Freightliner turf back...
For sure. When we visited the Museum/Customer Center a year or so ago, we got to shooting the breeze with one of the guides/employees, and I asked when Mack was going to give FL some competition. With a wry smile, and without saying too much, he made it pretty clear this was coming.

I got nothing on this. I was shocked when I saw the teaser on Instagram yesterday afternoon. This model isn’t even on their website yet. The sad thing for me is that it’s not being built in Pennsylvania.

Let's see if I've learned anything after a few decades at a truck dealership.....remains to be seen...:D

1) Cummins needs to find replacement market share for diminishing 6.7 use by DTNA as they push and incentivize the DD5 and DD8 engine platform to fulfill the proprietary truck dream they want sooooo badly..

and lookee there, along comes Mack with a truck that can use it...

a) Cummins can be difficult in Warranty situations..DTNA is easier to deal with...

b) DD8 engines have an actual engine brake. It is STRONG!! With a 3000 Allison behind it you want your seatbelt fastened when you activate it...

c) Never ending turbo actuator issues....

2) Skimming the gravy here with only two offerings, both in a 4 X 2 configuration. Who's the biggest customers for the Non-CDL 25,999 and 33,000 class??
Ryder and Penske I believe.....that's where they will start....with huge incentives...

I'm not picking on Cummins, I do love and own one. I also have two delivery trucks with 6.7 power.

But when pushed to capacity they can have issues..just like any engine...

Just for fun, then I gotta go back to work..

Brought a trade in back to Bangor Friday night, This will become one of my Parts Delivery Trucks. 2015 M2 with 6.7 Cummins, Allison MD3000, Meritor 23,000 drive axle. 22' foot Morgan Box, Air Ride Suspension, Air Ride Cab...

Typical Sales Department....almost out of fuel and DEF fluid. Had to stop on route and fuel up....no gloves with me of course....$200.00 worth of Diesel plus one overpriced jug of DEF ($16.00) (cheaper than a de-rate) and I was good to go....

Just the dash, note the zonker yellow Low Fuel Light and the lone green bar for DEF level....

For you really technical dudes the extra gauge to the right of the cluster is air pressure in the suspension. With a little practice you can figure the gross weigh of the truck using that gauge. 30 psi is dead empty....

Now the one I really wanted to show you was how the Allison 3000 works for the engine brake....

Left digit is the desired gear, right digit is current gear.

At first I let off and let the engine brake engage just to slow down a bit, then I held speed for a bit...that is the "6 4" combo you see. Then when I got to the exit ramp I got serious and let completely off. You can see how the desired gear automatically goes to "2" and it starts downshifting like right now....pretty cool...

Noise is a rattle somewhere in the passenger air ride seat...gotta find that in the daylight..

We still have a couple mid- liners running around. They weren’t terrible.

They said EGR free was coming. I suppose engine management and SCR are getting the deed done. Not sure if I like that long, all silicone CAC hose though.

At such a low power Rating.
Cummins B6.7 engine, making 300 hp and 660 lb.-ft of torque.
They can probably do it without, the 30000psi Rail does make that possible.
Iveco/FCA has such EGR free engines for years now.

The QSB/B 6.7 went EGR free in 2019 along with longer service intervals.

I know in the QSB there are at least two duty cycle ratings. The lighter duty cycle, I think Cummins calls it intermittent, is rated at 325hp/1020lb ft. Continuous duty cycle is a much more conservative 230hp/700lb ft.
