Saw this thread the other day not thinkin much about it this morning I go to fuel up... Pop the Geno’s cap off an there it is a broken filler neck. Guess on Monday when I go in for my Umteenth recall on this truck I’ll add the filler neck to the list.

My original idea which I still stand by regardless if anyone was offended by my comment which I doubt as it was a serious comment.

"Could be mechanical because it's getting brittle, which is no good."

I say we salvage this one, but its up to OP really to share some follow up, or wait for Edank to.see what he finds..

@frost
Wonder where the little pieces are going? Can they make it down to the tank? Was that part of your warranty work did they inspect the inside of the tank?

Did they just replace the small green part?

Is there a part number on your paperwork?

Do you know what warranty plan this was covered by? E.g.: maxcare, powertrain, emissions....

That part looks to be super expensive as it's not just the green part from what I saw on line looking for one originally. It's appears to be the whole filler part, but I'm no dealer to pull subassembly part numbers.

@EDankievitch @frost
Do you know your build date of your trucks?

@EDankievitch
Can you share a pic of your broken one?

Hey EDankievitch like me, you need to stop eating your wheaties because we’re too strong and you need learn how too take out your fueling aggressions on some other object.
I was fortunate in that the broken pieces are fairly big but could have still fit down the filler tube.

I am also very glad I bought the extended Warranty because my truck was 1600 miles beyond factory warranty so that was the sorry Charlie moment but the extended covers it. It’s like a $500 piece of plastic:eek:

Build date is 2/13 until very recently I only fueled at my house. Small nozzle non auto shut off. I’m in the process of re locating to Nj so I’ve been buying fuel at the local Wawa . The filler neck is cracked at the bottom no pieces have fallen out yet... yet. But it shouldn’t be broken at all. Very stupid A) making it out of plastic. B) not having a cap to keep stuff form falling in.
Ram really needs to step it up if they expect me back for another truck in a few years....

Kinda funny ........ A $60k truck with a .01 cent plastic filler opening that’s gonna cost you $500. For filler neck plus labor sooooo - yea FLAT needs to up the game

Y'all know what's interesting is I can't find the part OR assembly on the Internet. I found a view of it, but no part number or assembly breakout. My Cab and Chassis has steel fillers for both DEF and fuel.

EDIT: I share the galleries view there are some parts that should NOT be plastic... fuel fills, radiator parts, and anything that is exposed to fuel or hydraulic (brake) fluid.

Anyway, it'll be interesting for y'all to post part numbers when you get your repair invoices.

Cheers, Ron

Dodge dealership finally got my new “filler ring tube” installed, it appears Dodge kinda knew about plastic ring breaking because the replacement looks a bit beefier, not by much though. Looks like they made the top of the ring not as tall as my original as well as added strengthening ribs. The part number listed on my invoice is - # 57008461AA : Tube: Fuel Filler. They also listed it as “Fuel filler neck assembly”. Price from dealership is close to $500 for a $0.02 piece of plastic.

Thats the new filler neck on the 2019's, I almost bought the wrong cap from Geno's when I bought my 2019. If your interested in a dust cap, here is the link.https://www.genosgarage.com/product...fuel-filler-dust-cap-green-82215782/fuel-caps
Yes, I ordered the wrong cap. Figured surely the filler neck would not change:rolleyes: Geno's sent me some different o-rings(great service as always)but I still have to pry it out with my pocket knife to fuel up. Not a big deal, and I figure it might stump/slow down vandals or fuel thieves for a minute.

Went through flooded desert road in Laughlin NV on 3/12 during a downpour in the Mojave desert, good thing I bought the cap from Geno’s. Water rushing across at knee deep water, put truck in 4x4 and went for it. Went to fill up for the trip back to Vegas today, and found a little mud spots on top of cap. Fuel door does have a seal around the perimeter, but there is a few small gaps in it. I have videos of the flooded road, but can’t load them here. I highly recommend the cap, in my case mud cap, not dust cap. Ozy, if you read, this maybe you can upload the video on this thread.

You are lucky we did not see you and your truck floating away on the 5 o'clock news! In Arizona there is a fine for driving into deep washes. You might want to check or change your diff fluids.

gotta love dumb driver laws. I rather enjoy watching the $80k m5 stuck in the wash in South Scottsdale.
