I have a massive oil leak coming from the left rear of the engine looks like it’s coming from above the tappet cover gasket whixh i just replaced when i did the injection pump. Any ideas
Ok . I’m guessing its the tappet cover since i just replaced it . I think my nephew got it to tight and broke the gasket . Goong to wash it off again and see if i can see where it’s coming from
I have read of people using 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Don't know if it makes a difference.I didn’t glue it on ill black rtv it on next time and ill put it on this tine
I know at one time it only came in yellow, maybe that is why. I do not know when the black came out and I have used it on different things and it appears to be the same to me, just a different color.I'm not sure. It's what the people I learned from years ago used. I'm sure we could look it up and see.
Guys am I missing something here, or just lucky, I've had my stock valve cover gasket off and on at least 10 times over the years. Wipe it dry, clean mating surfaces, install and tighten the 5 bolts till they stop. ???

D'Oh! Yep, I was missing something. Thanks John. Sorry guys.I believe the topic is about the tappet cover gasket on the left side of the engine block..., not the valve cover gasket.

If it’s oil it has to be a valve cover or the tappet cover.
