Thanks, TDR Staff

Maybe someone else can find a set of spider gears for my Liberty?

"Crabby" Challenger

If you live in ca, and you want to buy a brand new gas powered car, better get one while you can. Brand new gas cars will be outlawed for sale in ca by 2035.

Just imagine the long lines at the charging stations for long distance travelers; no more 5 minute fuel stops, or the dead batteries caused by trying to run the AC and electrical toys on the LA gridlocked freeway. Then there are the rolling brownouts CA had demanded for their citizens. Good luck going any reasonable distance towing a trailer, starting a fire in an emergency (I guess you could short the battery and blow up the vehicle), keeping warm in the winter while the search and rescue team tries to find where you ran off the road in a snowstorm. The list goes on... Durned city folk can have their electric toys for the city.:p

I know a guy that was a die-hard G-Wagon driver and owner for decades. Bought them, fixed them all the time, had a little collection, so yeah he was a Fanboy.

4 years ago he sold all and everything and bought it's first Tesla X.
And he was so happy with it that he bought a second one, an Y.

He says that he finally has a Car that is reliable, no trips to the Dealers and that it is much cheaper in cost ownership thanks to free charging at the TSC.

As a Daily Driver, why not, think about it.

I believe they have their place and I would not rule one out for short travels, but for the government to mandate to everyone...for every scenario...:( Who is paying for the "free charging at TSC"? How many more can they handle or how long can they provide "free charging at TSC"? Will the government see a tax cow ripe for the pickin' since the outrageous fuel taxes will no longer be filling their engorged coffers. Here comes the per mile tax and associated intrusions and limitations. Cell phones are bad enough for that...Give an inch, take a mile...or the whole tent.
Rant mode off (temporarily).

Electric motorvation is good for its intended job. I use electric forklifts all the time. They are fantastic and trouble free. They’re great for inside the shop and they always start up. My daily commute would be perfect for a Bolt or a Leaf or a tesla. If you’re a real long distance runner, I just dunno. I just can’t imagine putting a tesla through Death Valley in July, full battery or not.
The other day I was taking on fuel at a wawa where there are some tesla superchargers, and there was a Ram Rebel parked at one. I thought that was hysterical.
Who knows where battery tech will be a decade from now?

It can be done.
Germany shows it, but it costs a hell of money. They have the highest energy prices all over Europe, and raising.
But it's doable.
Ten years ago they fully depend on coal and nuclear energy - today they have over 30% renewable energy.

I didnt see where they said anything about diesel. Maybe all the new cars will have to be diesel. :D

We could only dream...
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an order this past Wednesday that aims to end the sale of new gasoline and diesel-powered passenger cars in the state by 2035.

Apparently California is not looking to ban USED vehicles. There is a market that will boom! ;)
