Parts seem to be drying up for the old 2nd gens.
Most (all I've been to) online discount places only go back to 2001.
Where can I go for a clutch safety switch and NOT pay full retail?


FWIW I put this in the 12 valve section, it however keeps showing I'm in the 98.5-02 section on the header. ????

This is a used clutch start switch from a 3rd gen, marked Pollak, AP and Mopar star. Turns out I found three in my stash. The terminals look good.

The switch is 53007944AB just for ref. Tested two with DVOM, at closed readings were the same a couple of Ohms.

You actually don't need a clutch safety switch. It's installed to prevent the driver from trying to start the truck while it's still in gear. (That's unless there's some other function that I didn't see with mine.)

You can run a jumper wire across the terminals to make the electrical system think that the switch is always closed. But you have to remember to put the truck into neutral or depress the clutch pedal before you try to start it. My 1996 is the first vehicle that I ever owned that came with a clutch safety switch! Everything I ever owned or drove before then required me to use my brain.
