Starting.

What are the consequences of starting my engine when:

A. I don't wait for the red four-count light to go out?
B. in cold weather I don't wait for the intake heater grid indicator to go out?

I often bypass the grid heater, and even reprogrammed it’s duration on my 05. It’s emissions based above 10°F, so no harm at all.

The red dot at the bottom right of the speedometer that comes on with the switch and the chime dings four times then the light goes out and I start the engine.

Are you talking about the security light? It's between 120 on the speedo and 140 on the ECT.

You don't need to wait for that to start the engine. No issues going directly from OFF to START if it's warm enough out, above freezing. I usually use the grids below freezing, but rarely as long as the OEM timer allows.
