Keep in mind.....most salvage yards aren’t going to yank an alternator off of a known good engine.
I’d simply look for a Denso unit on eBay or Amazon or online elsewhere.
While certainly there is nothing wrong with looking for a NIB Denso alternator at a fair price on Amazon or elsewhere if that is in your budget, IMO your statement about salvage yards does not really hold true anymore.
In short, if the vehicle is at a parts yard rather then a car lot, then just about any individual part on it is up for grabs given the right price.
If you do not believe me, please spend about 10 minutes checking out
https://www.car-part.com/
and use its extremely well designed interface to try to find a part that ISN'T available from multiple used part suppliers from vehicles in good condition, some with very low miles.
Like I said earlier, you can readily search and sort by vehicle model and year, part, condition or mileage and location based on region or actual distance from you. Of course, it is also wise to perform due diligence to make sure that what you are buying is in the conditon stated by calling the yard directly and asking questions to make sure that the part is as described.
You definitely will pay a little more for a part from a good condtion, low mileage vehicle, but it is still MUCH less then a NIB part. For example, last year after spending less then 15 minutes on the website, I purchased a 220amp alternator with less then 35k miles of use from a wrecked 2015 truck for $135 shipped to me.
They yard was located about a four hour drive form me, but they were still happy to pull and ship the heavy alternator. The item arrived as described and properly packaged and I couldnt have been happier with my purchase.
