Hi Guys
I haven't been on here or posted for a long time( mainly due to the fact that I have had NO troubles with my current truck)
But I pulled the pin yesterday and ordered a NEW 2021 LONGHORN 3500 DUALLY. See build sheet below
So I heard from one of the dealers before i signed the deal, that the "Blind stop monitoring" is on permanent hold right now due to dot being able to get parts. He said if that was in my build, I could be waiting 6-8 months for the build to start if it even did at all this year. My question is: Can that option be pulled from the build on a Longhorn without loosing the rest of the "safety group" option? I seen the lower model trucks it is a stand alone option for $500 so one would think I could just eliminate that portion of the build. I am not willing to wait that long and don't eat to loose any of the other options in the safety group. Any insight would be great.

No, you can't pick and choose what is included in an option package, all or nothing deal.
Guess you could call FCA customer care and see of the dealer knows what he is talking about on the blind spot monitor being on hold.

That link doesn't work. I bet there are a few of us who would like to see your build sheet, can you see if you can post it again? Thanks! I think we are going to go for a 2022 in December of this year.

Build sheet posted as requested.
Seems strange that they would loose all those builds just because they can’t get a few parts. Being it’s their problem you would think they could make some exceptions.

comrades - there was an article in financial times last week about there being a "chip" shortage worldwide..

Ford Motor Co. has confirmed plans to cut production and temporarily lay off more UAW members at the Chicago Assembly Plant.

A UAW local official at the huge Illinois factory had urged workers to be careful with their money and prepare for the wage loss caused by a global supply chain problem, the Detroit Free Press first reported Thursday. The shortage is tied to manufacturing disruption worldwide because of COVID-19.

This latest confirmation from the Dearborn automaker now officially totals four states with layoffs or shift reductions triggered by a shortage in semiconductor chips:

THANKS china! cheers :)

I wonder if the Window sticker down here includes the upgrade to an Aisin. I don't see it priced-out.

Still a pretty good difference considering the exchange rate

Ya you have to add the $7800 and $4155 for Aisin because they go together. Not sure why they break it down into two options here, because you have to get them both. So I think they are close. Not sure how current the exchange rate I used was. I can’t see them being to far off

So I heard back from the Dealer today. Because "Blind Spot Monitor" is part of an option group on the Longhorn, The build will be delayed, unless I was to drop the whole "Safety Group" option. If I was to jump up to the "Limited" then the build would still happen because it is a "Standard" feature on that truck. if I didn't hate the black interiors so much, I would get the Limited. and the blue interior is definitely out also. So guess all I can do is wait.

My wife has that on her Edge Titanium. I gotta say, it is kinda nice. I don't pay a lot of attention to it because I went decades without it, but it is nice.

Every leather I've ever had, or ever seen, that wasn't black, started to show wear and tear on the edges of the seats from getting in and out of the truck. Black shows it, too. But not nearly as much in my experience.

Again, my wife's leather is black and I'm getting used to that. All five times I've been in it. I'm not a fan of leather but if you want a 'loaded' truck (because you deserve one :) ) you can't get around it.

And since our Rams are made in Mexico, I will take a SWAG and assume the leather is Mexican Leather, which is the very best IMO. I'm sure some of it's junk, but high-end Mexican Leather can't be touched by anybody. Just my $.02

I'm not sure about the Longhorn but my Limited had a special care tag stating that the seats were made from actual hides and had special care instructions included. It also stated that each seat would develop its own "character" as it ages since it was not made from the pleather of past vehicles I've owned...

The Limited is the very top end of the Ram line, right?

I suspect they use good leather in that one..............
