In my last 20 years at Caterpillar, I was in hydraulics, designing fluid systems on large earther moving machines. WIX was by far one of the worst filters on the market for any fluid system as tested by the Caterpillar filter team. The only filters they would recommend for aftermarket use on the Caterpillar machines, were in order of acceptance of the filtering requirements for the components are: Caterpillar, Donaldson (made to the Cat specs), Paul filters, and Baldwin filters and Fleetguard filters (competitor to Cat filters so, we really did not recommend them to often).
Any other brand did not meet the filtering capacity, Micron rating, Flow rating, or material components used in the filter. Such as no bevel washer to hold the media in place or plastic instead, Media material holding capacity or type, can wall thickness, material thickness of the base plate, number of holes in baseplate and or size of holes in base plate.
So, you are willing to spend anywhere from $50,000 to $70,000 for your truck. But you are not willing to spend a few more dollars for a quality filter. I don't understand that logic of thinking.
