What is a good rule of thumb, horsepower wise, for needing studs? I put some in my engine perhaps 15 years ago (ARP) and one recently broke. Now I'm finding a lot of other people have had them break. ARP says "hydrogen embrittlement". I see some people get 400, 000 miles on their stock headbolts and gaskets, with as much as 300 H.P. I may have 325 H.P. on mine. I'm having a lot of trouble going for a new set of studs when a broken one just is going to cost me some costly repairs. How much horsepower will bolts supposedly stand up to?
