On the front cover of the motor (by the fan belt) you will see a hockey puck looking thing with a hose coming off of it. Remove the hose clamp and spin the hockey puck counter clockwise (looking at it) 2 turns or less it should be off and in your hands. Inside is a Brillo pad of sorts used as a filter. The hose if not modified will have a catch can full of oil attached to it. Many remove the catch can and just extend the hose so it does not make a F’n mess of the front of the motor.!999 2500 Ram and I can't seem to locate the pvc valve or the crank case ventilation filter. Thanks
Cool thanks! Ill look for it there. That sounds like the crank case ventilation filter how about that little pvc valve? On the front cover of the motor (by the fan belt) you will see a hockey puck looking thing with a hose coming off of it. I saw someone else post that somewhere but then I questioned why they sold me one! ThanksNo valve on a diesel.
Good to know!Note: Just to not extend the hose to far if you live in a Northern state! In freezing weather if the hose extends back along the engine, then the condensation will freeze at the end of the hose pressurizing the crack case and you will blow seals in the block.
Another question about this crank case ventilation filter. It looks like I could use some brake cleaner and clean the old filter out and let it dry so I could rotate it out with the other over time, thoughts? On the front cover of the motor (by the fan belt) you will see a hockey puck looking thing with a hose coming off of it.
