I was playing with my Smarty Touch and came across IMAP* and I think it is on default ranges, and it keeps showing red - yes, I know the color is based on the set ranges. So I got to wondering what normal IMAP values should be. If anyone knows and can post them, I would much appreciate it.

Thanks!
George

Bringing back up as I never got an answer

Intake Manifold Absolute Pressure, so it should read ~14.7 engine off, depending on altitude and weather.

If you subtract the engine off number from what’s showing that’s your boost. Set the warning to max boost plus 14.7

I looked and the highest setting is 19PSI which seems low. I wonder exactly what a normal range is supposed to be?

Interesting. How high of a reading have you seen?

What is it at idle with the engine off?
At idle, it shows 14.3 or so. Very strange. I have seen upwards of 24.5

I have been watching the smarty boost values and they match my autometer gauge pretty much right on. I have been having super excessive smoke recently, engine starts, runs, pulls, and idles perfectly. I just changed my map sensor as I read that could be the issue. With the IMAP values always in the red I figured maybe that might point me in the right direction.

I am going to get my injectors tested next week, but my truck is not making oil, my air filter is new and clean, I have tested for boost leaks (none, and can make 32-35lbs boost), and have never had fuel in the oil per blackstone UOA.

14.3 at idle corresponds to absolute pressure at around 750’ elevation. At 7,000’ the absolute pressure should be closer to 11.3 psi.

If you’re reading higher pressure than you’re actually at I would expect to see more smoke.

Good info. Thanks! I will keep an eye on it - see how looks after driving to work tomorrow.

This morning it showed 11 something PSI at my house (7000ft) at idle, and 12 in Colorado Springs (a thousand feet lower than my house @ 6K). So maybe replacing the MAP sensor will do the trick.
