3rd gen cummins gauge cluster repair/overhaul

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate that. With the price (and issues) of new trucks, I am determined to completely rebuild my 2004!

3rd gen cummins gauge cluster repair/overhaul

Hi there, My early 2004 gauge cluster has an RPM needle with a mind of its own. Typically fails when it gets hot out in the summer. I reflowed the solder several years back and that seemed to help but now its really bad. Since my truck is a 6 speed, the RPM gauge is nice to have. Do you guys...

SMARTY questions for new +50 Injectors

What boost pressure does the Smarty throw a code? That must be pretty high. My Smarty Jr hasnt thrown a code at anything below 40psi. Id hate to punish me he351 above 40psi. Hell I keep it below 30psi as it is. Only been to 35psi a few times during tuning. But I agree, keeping rail pressure at...

I wonder how close the coolant gauge is, probably close id say.

325hp engine tuning for fuel economy, 3rd injector event elimination, G56 question

Does anybody have any hard data on highway tires vs mud/snow rated tires and the effect on fuel economy? I have been running Goodyear duratracs, mostly because I live in northern Canada. While they arnt the best tire out there, they do have decent traction and are very affordable on sale...

Oil pressure guage read normal, then 0

My truck did the same thing when I first took ownership of it (bought it used). I hooked up a mechanical oil pressure gauge to confirm that it was the pressure switch. Sure enough it was. Bought a new switch from Cummins for less than 30$. No problems ever since.

I work on helicopter turbine engines. Compressor technology varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but they ALL use some kind of method of controlling the direction of the airflow into, through and out of the compressor module. Before the compressor we have inlet guide vanes, sometimes...

Dang, thats not so good. Lots of metal sent down stream for sure. Any idea what your boost was set to? And peak? Lots of towing with your truck?

325hp engine tuning for fuel economy, 3rd injector event elimination, G56 question

Lets stop the ******* match right here fellas. The points have been made, and we arnt increasing MPG by going down this road.

    Thrust bearing failure

That is disappointing for sure. But even still, something isnt right here. This isnt magic. There is a reason why this keeps happening. So the best thing to do would be to install a set of 6.7 main bearings then.

    Thrust bearing failure

Reaaaaally. Well, I learned something today then.

    Thrust bearing failure

Wouldnt all 3rd gen engines already have the 1 piece bearing? Thats an old update.
